Lawd! DJ Marilynn on KPOO gives us Denise LaSalle's fab "Trapped By a Thing Called Love".
-
Judge plays Atlantic Starr's "Silver Shadow", which I'd only ever heard on CGSS. Speaking of, still no word on where Greg Edwards has ended up.
-
another midday treat: Prince's little-heard "Mountains".
-
hot damn! it's "Hot Thang" -- more underplayed Prince (from Sign O' the Times).
-
Bob Shannon on 'LNG is playing weird-ass Xmas stuff. "Zuma, the Santa from Mars" -- Barry Gordon from the late '50s. NTM and stunningly atrocious.

and speaking of atrocious: yikes! the "Xmas Macarena". phonetic English at the holidays! "should old aquenstance be forgot" -- whaa??

OMG -- they just played a bit of Ronnie Spector's Xmas remake of "Be My (Christmas) Baby". She sounds just awful. How utterly sad.
-
switched over to London's Heart for their "Club Classics" show in hopes of hearing some disco Xmas tunes. No such luck, and it's become obvious that they play the exact same songs every week -- Just heard that remix of "Brimful of Asha" and then Gwen Guthrie's "Nothin' Goin on But the Rent", at pretty much the exact same times they played 'em last week *and* the week before. Boy do I miss Greg and CGSS...

JJ on KPOO, sprinkling some Xmas tunes into the mix (like the Staples' "Who Took the Merry Out of Christmas?") and also giving us Marlena Shaw's fabulous "Go Away Little Boy".
His Lost & Found Soul feature this week was Kleeer (yes, 3 "eee"s) doing "Keep Your Body Working" -- NTM, and JJ said "I think that one shoulda stayed lost"!
But here's Patrice Rushen's "Haven't You Heard", which reminds me of Chaka's "Do You Love What You Feel".

And -- TANC, I just mentioned it in the "Christmas Countdown" thread the other day -- here's the Emotions, "What Do the Lonely Do (at Xmas)?".
-
More seasonal sounds: Little Steven's Xmas Party Part 2 in full swing. Gotta love Soupy Sales' "Santa Claus is Surfin' to Town" -- produced by Jack Neitzsche!
-
day-um! 'LNG plays the Isleys orig of "Nobody But Me", later a hit for the Human Beinz. And appropriate for the season, one of the Isleys is named Rudolph. This is Bob Shannon's Winter Soul-stice show -- LOL!
-
Listening to Vin Scelsa'sannual holiday show -- a cover of "Fairytale of NY" that's NTM; didn't know anyone *had* covered it.
