LOL! I'd put the orig (Tim Hardin) and the Bobby Darin version ahead of Seger's too.

I'll have to chk out Four Tops' version, but I thought Seger's was pretty noice. Small Faces do a cover of it that's not bad, too... great song for Steve Marriot's voice.

WOS- Tricky Dick and Henry K

Join the BOS for the 'Oo JINX!

BOS2 and proxy of Gaz: Todd. This is one Katrina I have no problem with -- one of the great pop singles of the '70s

regarding Dave Morey's uninspired 80s and 90s 10@10s:
so ten years from now, I fear we can hear Dave's 2007 10@10's contain the predictable slices of music that I lump together into the Dave Matthews/Hootie & the Blowfish/Jack Johnson school of crap rock. (to be fair, there are some songs by DM and JJ that I don't even mind -- not Hootie, though, they suck all the time).
I like KFOG's playlist maybe 50% of the time, but they play a lot of music that I find tedious.
ok, back to 1972:
always nice to hear Todd...
-
Don't be unkind, give a BOS #2 to ELP.

Yep. You're preaching to the choir here. No one will disagree.
Even about the Todd.

"ELP I need someone, not just anyone, won't you please please ELP me?!" ;)

I can't for the set that features Feist, Corrinne Bailey Rae, Colbie Caillet, Sara Bareilles (or however she spells it) and 6 other women who sound just like them.
VHM ELP.
-
"...reported that...It takes two hands to handle a Whopper!" THAT was funny.
-
OMFGROTFL! What an hysterical clip edit!
-
How 'bout some Hot Butter Popcorn with your news?
-
It takes 2 hands to handle a whopper. Well, I guess Dave would know ;)

BOS3 Hot Butter'd "Popcorn"!

so less colbie/corrine and more Patti, Janice, is what you're saying? speaking of lady rockrrzzzz, I saw Joan Jett at the Marin County Fair a couple weeks back. She's still got it, even if it's been scaled back to a county fair level.
Popcorn - HM - just for its synthiness
-
another Katrina I never tire of:
"Mellow Galoot" "Metal Guru"
-
Is it you, Metal Galoot?

proxy of cairo, L&M, "Angry Eyes". and BOS4 from me -- a real NYC prog-FM flashback.
-
"...reported that...It takes two hands to handle a Whopper!" THAT was funny.
I called in my BOS for ELP, told Dave that was the funniest clip edit ever, and after he thanked me for noticing I asked him to reprise it at the end. "I...[chuckle]...dunno...we'll have to see."
-
"Angry Eyes". and BOS4 from me -- a real NYC prog-FM flashback.
Me too - "ladies & gentlemen...the LOOOOONG version."
-
BOS for L&M, full-length "Angry Eyes". I was pissed when I got Best of Friends and found it had a severely edited version without all the tasty jamming.
-
Dave, we caught you katrinin' -- again! But VHM Sly anyway.
-
Verrry tasty Sly and company. I don't know this one. Tremendous.
-
Smiling is a katrina? yikes! i wish the rest of KFOG has as much Katrina-ing!
MY BOS for Sly and his Family Stones!

I was thinking the same thing, though I already spent my vote on Angry Eyes. How 'bout the "Thing with Two Heads"? Is that a real movie? Sounds way too silly -- Rosey Grier!
-
ROTFL The Thing With 2 Heads -- not to be confused with The Incredible 2-Headed Transplant. Totally different, er, head. Totally.
BOS5 Joe Simon. "you got power in yo' kiss, power in yo' twist!"
-

If you look at the main page you'll find a link to the "Shraytabase" (a term coined by Urth, not me) which is a Db I've been maintaining of setlists going back to 2000. It's only about 70% complete up to April 2004, but it has every set since then.
Anything that appears in over 20% of sets for that given year is my definition of a Katrina.

Part of that clip was some guy shouting, "Somebody DO something!" which I have heard countless times over the years in various audio montages...and now I know where it came from.
-
VHM Stylistics. We've head this a couple times in the last 6 months, iirc. Dave's sticking to favorites today (mostly)... but they're *good* favorites.

10am meeting this morning, just caught the replay -- 10 way tie, way awesome set.
Dave should be self-indulgent more often.

The truly sad thing is that the other head was Ray Milland, a truly talented actor. Watch The Lost Weekend sometime -- just brilliant.

A Katrina isn't necessarily a "bad" song. Just one that shows up more frequently than not. No Sly haters here, I don't think.
