according to yesterday's setlist.
woo hoo! I'm expecting Dave's "classic" to be '70-'71-or-'72, so an entire morning spent in the '70s is not a bad way to start a holiday weekend.
-
Emmylou & Gram Parsons, "Love Hurts"! BOSFRA.
-
The 'oo vomit in the bar one mo' time.
BOS2 Young Frahnk-en-shteen; BOS3 Marley, lively-ing up the set.
-
VHM to Emmylou and Gram (would have been BOS if Ginger had played "A Song for You).
-
BOS3 Marley, lively-ing up the set.
I doubt Dave's set will include any reggae, but Tosh & Marley in back to back sets is awfully nice.
-
BOS to "Ol' 55," perfect for a Friday when I'm in a sour mood.
-
As I pull away slowly, feeling so holy...
BOS #4 Iggles & their Ol' 55.

Indeed, BOS4 for me. Why the crankypants, bub?
-
OMG! BOS5 Joni! The chick is twisted! flip city!
-
BOS #5 Joni pulling off a credible Ella impersonation on "Twisted".

Lambert Hendrix & Ross (who did the orig, iirc) are worth checking out. They also did "Cloudburst", covered by the Pointers.
Any major BOS6 means a VERY major set goin' on here.

Any major dude with half a heart surely would tell you my friend...when the demon is at your door, in the morning it won't be there no more.

especially if you get into the vodka and sleep tight...

I keep waiting for Mike to make the Squonk's tears allusion.

OK, "Sweet Home Ala-bomma" is about as unnecessary a record as I can think of from this year.
-
God knows I can't stand red state rednecks, but I still love the guitar riff on "Sweet Home"

Oh no, that would be "Spiders and Snakes".
-
God knows I can't stand red state rednecks
after West VA and Kentucky, I now refer to them as "Hillary-billies"

Oh no, that would be "Spiders and Snakes".
But "S&S" isn't in regular rotation on every Classic Rock station in America -- just on Dave Morey 10@10s.
-
aba-wakawa, poussay-katrina!

Thankfully, John's "#9 Dream" washes out the taste of Skynyrd.

Dave only plays this in '75, fwiw.
-
Timmy Thomas! Woo Hoo!
BOS #6.
-
Hoo Lawd! BOS7 Timmy Thomas and his beat-box.
-
BOS - though I thought it was '73 - to Timmy Thomas, "Why Can't We Live Together?" Mike, you asked about my crankypants - here's 90% of what's aggravating me, in song.

I like to stick with the tried and true Flyover States. :o

BOS - though I thought it was '73 - to Timmy Thomas, "Why Can't We Live Together?"
you are correct, sir -- a late '72 release that peaked in '73. I often confuse this with "Be Thankful For What you Got", which *is* '74.

WOS2 to "U.S. Blues," the message eluding me.

you're expecting a message from stoned, jamming hippies? ;)
indeed, I've never understood WTF this one's about.

me neither, which was why I was looking for the lyrics:
Red and white, blue suede shoes, I'm Uncle Sam, how do you do?
Gimme five, I'm still alive, ain't no luck, I learned to duck.
Check my pulse, it don't change. Stay seventy-two come shine or rain.
Wave the flag, pop the bag, rock the boat, skin the goat.
Wave that flag, wave it wide and high.
Summertime done, come and gone, my, oh, my.
I'm Uncle Sam, that's who I am; Been hidin' out in a rock and roll band.
Shake the hand that shook the hand of P.T. Barnum and Charlie Chan.
Shine your shoes, light your fuse. Can you use them ol' U.S. Blues?
I'll drink your health, share your wealth, run your life, steal your wife.
Wave that flag, wave it wide and high.
Summertime done, come and gone, my, oh, my.
Back to back chicken shack. Son of a gun, better change your act.
We're all confused, what's to lose?
You can call this song, the United States Blues.
Wave that flag, wave it wide and high.
Summertime done, come and gone, my, oh, my.
