Basing the year guess mostly on the Go-Gos.  Some of this is unfamiliar to me, including the NRBQ that I'm sure Urth is sorry to have missed.  A little something for everyone:

Yep, sure sounds like '81. And I surely would have loved to hear "the Cap'n"--"he's got sharp teeth like Rin-tin-tin"--definitely a regional hit though--you'd never heard that on a West coast station (and in fact, I never have).

and I have never ever heard that Pretenders tune on the air.  Wow!
