Can't last very much longer....
-
Joni french-kisses Mark for his B-day!
-
BOS Beck, freeway jammin' one mo' time.

Rollin', rollin', rock and rollin'. And now Freeway Jammin'.
Since I'm in a good mood I suspect I'll be giving everything a BOS, certainly the first 3 anyway.
-
Still crazy after all those 45 years!
-
Yes, I'm Still Crazy After All These Years. Have to think there's a nod and a wink going out with this.

Yup, and still ready to eat some sushi at noon.

Exactly my thought--and Happy Birthday, my friend Mr. Shray! Can't wait to hear what Ginger has in store next.

absolutely! Still Shray-zy...
OMFG! "Blue Letter", one of my fave FMac tunes and one you NEVER hear. BOS2 -- as I've said before, Ms. Ronstadt really shoulda covered this back then.
-
Fmac I'm not familiar with.
-
So far she hasn't played anything that I suggested, but then again it's a fabulous set so far & I'm not complaining.
-
BOS DYlan.
Great set
-
Holy Flaming Mother of Dylan! "If You See Her, say Hello" -- BOS3 and bustout of the Week!
-
BOS # whatever, "If You See Her, Say Hello"
(but I had suggested "Buckets of Rain")

I haven't heard this in many a moon -- I'm getting chills, as this entire LP is a bit of a sledgehammer.
-
Dammit, Janet! 10-way-tie for BOS.
-
BOS4 the Time Warp! "Dammit Janet!"
-
it's a rocky horror getting older eh? A time warp indeed!
-
Damn It, Janet!
-
Dammit, Janet! 10-way-tie for BOS.
dammit JINX! This is as fabulous a '75 set as I have ever heard.
-
Another nod from Ginger--time is fleeting...
It's just a jump to the left...
-

The blackness would hit me and the void would be calling.
-
well, here come the Iggles to ruin Gaz's 10-way tie. But it's also a Sledgehammer for me.
-
Crapton when he wasn't crappy! (wow, this set really *has* put me in a good mood!)
-

This song brings back some distinct memories of the winter of '75 for me too--perhaps because this was EVERYWHERE for a few months. And likely the song that turned their career around--after Take It Easy they didn't exactly burn up the charts, until this song came along. (I'd check that fact, but as usual AMG's front door is even slower to load than CNET's.)
ETA: OK finally got in, but according to AMG they didn't have any singles that charted prior to Take It To the Limit in '76--that certainly can't be right. And still pages are slower than christmas to load--I'm on a freakin' T1 line and you'd think I was on dial-up.

HFMOCG! Can't believe you said that!

I posted on that very subject a while back -- it indeed saved their career. "Already Gone", the first single from On the Border, was a chart disappointment (peaked in the 20's somewhere, iirc) and "James Dean" missed the Top 40 altogether. Asylum was feeling desperate, so they gave this ballad a big push.

I think it's more accurate to say that this was the song that took them to the proverbiual next level. All of their albums had charted well and had spawned hit singles, but BOML was their first #1, and gave them the momentum that sent One Of These Nights into the stratosphere.

VHM the Dan
-
BOS-whatever the Dan, "Chain Lightning".
-
"We're standing just where he stood / Chain lightning, it feels so good."
-

another one where I suggested a different song on the same album ("Everyone's Gone To The Movies").
But fantastic set, Thanks Ginger!

Well, no shoutouts, but since she mentioned us a few days ago I can't imagine it would do to give too much attention to listeners who are 1,000-plus miles away. But safe to say, Ginger gave you a pretty nice birthday gift. Mark, if you call to thank her, give her our best.

Here's the email she sent me just after the set:
Mark:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Any special plans or will the big party be over the weekend?
Sorry I couldn’t give you a nice dose of Southern rock this morning. In the early days of
KBCO we did play a lot more country-rock but albums from Marshall Tucker, The Outlaws,
and Charlie Daniels disappeared from the library a long time ago. Of course we do
slip in PPL’s “Boulder Skies” every once in a while.
Great suggestions for a cheese medley! I’ll try and put a new one together by the next time
we do 1975.
Thanks again. And Happy Birthday!
Ginger

She totally RAWKS!
I emailed to thank her for "one of the best '75 sets I've ever heard" but I won't see her reply until I get home tonite.
