HM to Annie and Dave.  LOVE the opening and riff to "Thorn in My Side," but that ron-ron-run-ron chorus really deflates.

One of the bands that Dave & Ginger both favor, BoDeans.

WOS: "Man, she's on the run / She's a ruuuuuuunaway."  BoDeans are like Smithereens: too much too similar.

As I pointed out to Gaz a week or so ago, the B-side of Fogerty's "Change in the Weather" 45 was his cover of "My Toot Toot".

Er, you're gonna have to explain that one...

JCM's "Scarecrow" makes it's 2nd '86 appearance in a week.  BOS4 anyway, it's a great great song.

They just visually remind me of each other.

BOS to "Scarecrow"'s second appearance in a week.  From the man who, after 20 more years of artistic development, would bring us "This Is Our Country."

is that sarcasm?  "TIOC" is actually a great song too, Chevy notwithstanding.

Well I can stand beside ideals I think are right
and I can stand beside
the idea to stand and fight
I do believe there's a dream for everyone
This is our country

There's room enough here
for science to live
and there's room enough here
for religion to forgive
and try to understand
all the people of this land
this is our country

From the east coast to the west coast
down the dixie highway back home
this is our country

And poverty could be just another ugly thing
and bigotry would be seen only as obscene
and the ones who run this land
help the poor and common man
this is our country

From the east coast to the west coast
down the dixie highway back home
this is our country

The dream is still alive
someday it will come true
and this country
it belongs to folks like me and you
so let the voice of freedom
sing out through this land
this is our country

From the east coast to the west coast
down the dixie highway back home
this is our country
From the east coast to the west coast
down the dixie highway back home
this is our country

OK, that was needlessly hyperbolic on my part; and Mark, thanks for posting the lyrics, they really are better than I remember whenever ... I see ... that damned, damned Chevy ad.

And that's the cross JCM will have to bear--one of his best songs in recent memory being associated forever in the minds of his fans with a truck. I'm not saying he's right or wrong in selling it to Chevy, but this is the fallout he has to live with.

I've read enuf interviews with him on the subject to sorta sympathize/see where he's coming from, in terms of aging rockers getting exposure. (or over-exposure, as it turned out to be in this case)
