two fine years in a row from Bob!  and a Summer Breeze rolls in (and this was indeed a hit in Nov/Dec of '72).

I remember hearing "Heart of Gold" on the radio and thinking, OMG! They're gonna dance to Neil Young on American Bandstand! And indeed they did.  BOS1.

BOS just for the novelty (and because I woke up too late for the jasmine in my MIIIIND).  Love the drumming on this.

This is nearly a Narada for me, oddly -- I don't recall it getting any FM prog play in NYC, tho' it's clearly a "classic" in the Midwest.

wow, a GazWOS twin-spin: GFR into the Iggles.

Hoo Lawd! it's the 3rd of Sept on the 20th of Nov!

BTW, Gaz -- this week's CG retro-countdown is from late '72 when this tune was #1 in the UK. A must-listen -- I'll be catching it after Dave's set today.

Surprised to hear.  A staple in Pittsburgh.

I'll catch it tomorrow when I'm off.  Yesterday was a long day (hence my odd hours of posting) and I have to go back in in an hour.  We're cramming three days of work into two, basically.

One of the many things I love about "Papa" is when they repeat the refrain a second time and clap on the off-beats.

I feel ya. We have to put together front doors for Thursday thru Monday before EOD tomorrow. But half our staff is off tomorrow, so we're trying to do it by today. Fun.

BTW, Gaz, I'm listening to it right now and I was wondering why it didn't match the Dec 2nd, '72 chart I found on the UK chart db -- turns out they're counting down the US chart from that week. So it's similar to what you heard on the Kasem Klassic last week. But Otis Williams' stories are fun to hear.

We're into the top ten, and they're playing the Isleys version of "Summer Breeze" in error, rather than S&C -- but it sounds great.
