I knew they were SF 1HW's on the 415 label, but interesting to hear Ginger say that they started out in Nawlins as The Rat Finks before moving out here.

Indeed -- news to me too. "China" was a big AOR/alt-rock radio hit in NYC.

BOS2 JCM, fightin' authority -- how can Joel Selvin say this guy is unworthy of the RnRHOF?

Robert Cray's a bad influence on this set. Minus 10 points for that faux-Steely Dan sax break.

VHM Todd, I don't know how anyone can not like "Bang on the Drum".

BOS3 "Jokerman". I'm reading very mixed things about I'm Not There.

BOS4 Yaz, "Only You" -- a 10@10 bustout? can't recall anyone playing it, tho' Rob may have.  Ms Moyet at her most endearing.

Catapult! Cat. A. Pult. 2nd time in a week, but VHM anyway.

I wasn't complaining, as I'm sure I've said before, Murmur would be one of my desert island discs.  I can literally listen to it all day.

I manage, somehow.

I won't get to hear any replays but a BOS vote to "Only You," which I'd love for Vince Clarke to revive with Andy Bell singing the lead.

I always thought it was funny that Clarke teamed up with Bell -- when Erasure first appeared I thought Bell sounded a bit like Moyet... and when I first heard Yaz(oo), I thought Moyet was a guy.

You've heard the a capella version of "Only You" by the Flying Picketts, yes?

Oh, the vocal resemblance between Madames Moyet and Bell is remarkable.  Alas, I don't know the cover of which you speak.

Meantime, co-BOS to "Jokerman," which I'd never heard until 1994 and remains a sledgehammer of that summer.

BTW, her last two albums have been magnificent.  Both were slept on in the States; I'm not sure the earlier ever got a proper U.S. release.  But wow, her voice moves me like few others.
