Judge off to a good start with Barry White, "Yo' Sweetness is Mah Weakness". Happy to report my meeting ended early.
Ooo! "Thank God It's Friday" on a Monday! Hope this is the beginning of a long disco groove, I could use one.
-
"mah mind is blown? is that all?" Judge gets into some ParliaFunkadelicment.

Holy crap -- that was George Duke?
-
Oh my -- Gino Vanelli thinkin' 'bout those nights in Montreal.
-
Crossing my fingers we don't get the two-hour Prince-a-thon again.
-
YabbaDabbaDoozaBubba! Bootzilla's here!
There's spot-the-vinyl, and then there's damn!-that vinyl-is-spotted.
-
Broooooooooooooooooooce! "Incident on 57th St" on KCDX. And the pimps swung their axes...
-
David's freaking out in a moonage daydream, oh yeah.
Followed by -- OMFG! -- America, "Woman Tonight", one of their rare flop singles.
-
A very literal OMG! to Sister Janet Mead's "Lord's Prayer" on WLNG! Hallow-ED!
-
Oh no! WLNG plays the hilariously awful "Love Jones" -- the only thing funnier is the Cheech & Chong parody.
"what, baby? what is a love jones? shucks, doll..."
-
wow -- the Shirelles orig version of "Sha La la", which didn't do much, but was turned into a hit by Manfred Mann.

"what, baby? what is a love jones? shucks, doll..."
Thanks to Rhino's "Can You Dig It" collection, I have that on my iPod, and every time it comes up, I about bust a gut.
"The need is so strong, it's almost like that of a junkie." (At least they phrased that right, grammatically speaking.)
"What's a love jones? Shucks, darlin'--it's when you love someone very very much, and you just can't seem to get yo'self together."

I've heard the parody, but I've never heard the original!

Wow -- CG, er, I mean "Gold", has a new improved player (twice the size of the old one) that includes a "listen again" tab that gives you access to archived shows from the past 7 days! Impressive.
-
"I don't know why I like drugs ... I just DO." Go, Whitney.
-
You little trustmaker! Wish CG'd follow this up with another fluky comeback of '76, Marmalade's "Falling Apart at the Seams."
-
Calling all cars! (And RGMikes!) These gals are Armed and Extremely Dangerous!
-
"I don't know why I like drugs ... I just DO." Go, Whitney.
"I don't know why I like pussy... I just do"
And speaking of, the Dells like to wear it on their face. (Unlike Paul Simon & Cecilia.) Ewwww!

TANC: But Chaka never misses her water.

keep it common law.
CG saves the day
-
Woo Hoo! Sly Fox! the Hollywood Squares are living in Disneyland...
-
OMG! Calloway's "I Wanna Be Rich" -- haven't heard this since it was a hit.
-
Listening to Felix Hernandez on WBGO this afternoon. Now playing: the Isleys' original 1964 recording of "Who's That Lady," a wholly different vibe, with cowbell and horns not that far removed from lounge tropicalia.
-
And now the Pointer Sisters put in their Toussaint's worth with "Yes We Can Can."
-
They gettin' TIRED of it! Eddie Holland, "Leavin' Here" - great stuff.
-
The original recording of "Go Now," by Bessie Banks (?), better than the hit.
-
Ooh, ahh, Lost 45 approaches its close with Livvy, "Have You Never Been Mellow," which my friend Sarah in Boston rewrote as "Have You Never Been Ghetto." This was one of the very first songs I fell in love with, I guess I was 3 when my mom and dad had the record.
-
New to me, if no one else: Billy Joel's demo of "Only the Good Die Young," with a weird reggae lilt to it. "Big question mark here, 'cuz I don' like dis part," he says over what I guess would be the second bridge.

There's an earlier recording of WTL?!? Wow, ya learn something every day. I gotta try and find that one...
