Title: KBCO, 9/6/07: 1991
Post by: RGMike on September 06, 2007, 09:05:06 AM
I had never heard this Stephen Stills track, "Treetop Flyer", until a yaer or so ago -- got no airplay on any station I was listening to in '91. Now out-of-print, sex Ginger.

This Chris Whitley tune is new to me (I think). VHM.

Was KFOG playing this Chris Whitley back in '91?  I've had a growing suspicion that although KBCO's playlists these days closely mirror KFOG's, back 15 years ago KBCO was playing cooler music.

I didn't really discover KFOg until '92, but as it's never popped up as a "re-current", I'm guessing no.

Correction to my previous post: I saw Thelma & Louise, so I guess the Whitley isn't completely new to me.  But I wish someone wouldm play Glenn Frey's contrib to the T&L sndtk, easily his post-Eagles career peak.

BOS3 Bonnie -- "I Can't make You Love Me" -- who'd'a thunk such a powerful ballad would be written by a former NFL player?  (Mike Reid)

Yeah, that made my morning.  Sure wish Dave would play more UK stuff from this period - Stone Roses, Charlatans, Inspiral Carpets, Happy Mondays (although he does play the occasional Primal Scream & Soup Dragons).

Sorry to say, but I'm pretty burnt-out on all the SRV tracks we hear regularly.

WOS from me as well.  This song appears on that Jo Mama album I bought at Christmastime last year during Tower's close.  What horrible songwriting.
