Another Monday another Judge extravaganza -- he kicks off today with TTD, "Who's Lovin' You".
-
Judge introduces himself as "your resident 'Field Negro'" -- LOL!
-
Missed the backsell, but Judge just played an amazing cover of Hall & Oates' Do What You Want, Be What You Are--AMG sez the Dramatics did it, def could have been them.

"Do Watcha See, Be Whatcha Get"!
Indeed, 'twas they.
-
OMG! The Boys, "Dial My Heart"!
-
Prince from LoveSexy: "Eye Know".
-
WMIR, that LI pirate rock station, gives me both "Ride The Tiger" and Yes' cover of S&G's "America" in the same half-hour.
-
and now Balthazar makes an appearance. They loves their BOC on LI.
-
"some people like cupcakes better..." WMIR never fails to play some Zappa, and here's "Muffin Man"
-
"He said he wanted heaven but prayin' was too slow
So he bought a one-way ticket on an airline made of snow..."
OMFG, Steppenwolf's "Snowblind Friend" --written by Hoyt Axton
-
OMGWTFLOL! Most unexpected (and welcome) surprise o'the Day: Frida, "Something Going On". Phil's drumming has never been put to better use.
-
TANC: after Gaz, Geoff, and I discussed the Shangri-La's "I Can't Go Home Any More" Sunday nite, here's another of their monuments to mawkishness: "Give Us Your Blessing" on WLNG.
-
Sweeney on CG surprises me with the early Carole King nugget "It Might as Well Rain Until Sept." Horrendously recorded, but a gem anyway.

and he follows it with The Cat Man, "Days of the Old Schoolyard" -- haven't heard this in ages.
-
Settling in for an afternoon of WLNG with The Stylistics lovely, forgotten cover of "You'll Never Get To Heaven (If You Break My Heart)".
-
Oh my! "Everyone's Gone to the Moon"!
-
another Oh My -- Jessie Colter, "I'm Not Lisa".
-
KPOO's JJ don't take no Labor Day Weekend off! He plays Honey Cone's "One Monkey (Don't Stop No Show)" -- and it's the hard-to-find "suck you" version! Followed by King Floyd with one of the follow-ups to "Groove Me", a song called "Woman Don't Go Astray" which is new to me. (I love the name of the label he was on: Chimneyville.)
And -- OMFG! -- William DeVaughn, "Blood is Thicker Than Water", his sound-alike follow-up to "Be Thankful For What You Got".

What were the odds of hearing James Brown's "Don't Be a Dropout" twice in 2 day? Well, JJ played it last nite on KPOO, and now it's part of Little Steven's back-to-school theme in the Underground Garage, which also included the orig "September Gurls" by Big Star.
