Judge in full effect -- thank god.
Missed the '83 "mystery" set (can't believe he actually played Madness for the 3 billionth time -- no, wait, I can believe it) due to a meeting.
-
dunno who this is doing a sexy-soul cover of Eddie Rabbit's "Suspicions". But me likey.
-
another unidentified cover: some diva or other doing First Choice's "Armed & Extremely Dangerous".
-
Damn, now it's a funky soul version of Ace's "How Long"!
-
"Are you ready or not, it's only up the street
Everybody's dancin' and everybody's on the beat"
Judge digs out an early '80s NYC dance classic, "On the Beat" by the BB & Q Band.
Followed by Cheryl Lynn's "Shake it Up Tonite", a CGSS fave.
-
and Judge closes with a Morey fave, Invisible Man's Band, "All Night Thing".

sometimes when I'm down and all alone
just like a child without a home...
all I ever need is Sonny & Cher.
WLNG Nugget o' the Day.

Lesley Gore sez "That's the Way Boys Are". How would *she* know?

I once sang that at a gay karaoke night, attempting to do both parts in character. It went well -- to the daggers-staring chagrin of the drag queen who, unbeknownst to me, was getting ready to do her OWN rendition of Cher soon afterward. Good times.

"what's he BUILDING in there?"
Tom Waits on KPIG.

The husky wee-wee
is blindin' me
temporarily
Nanook rubs it on KPIG.

Lynn Anderson begs your pardon in WLNG's rose garden.

OMG! Maureen McG, "the Morning After"! When this was a hit in early '73, one NY deejay always introduced it with "here's Mrs McGovern, helping to pay off the Senator's campaign debts..."
-
Catching a bit of Bob Shannon on CBS-FM; they have a daily "Hall of Fame" theme that they do once an hour, today it's "The Men of Motown", and to my surprise and delight, we get Jermaine Jackson's fine cover of "Daddy's Home", with one of the great early-'70s mondegreens: "Your best friend Rhoda told me..."

well, CGSS doesn't start 'til noon (but it's on until 4) -- turns out Sweeney is the new afternoon drive guy, in addition to his saturday Rock Show duties. And he's playing OMD's fab "Locomotion", which needs to be played in a 10@10 one of these days.

I was wondering how "Doo Wah Diddy Diddy" was qualifying as 'soul' and then was equally gobsmacked to hear Sweeney's voice, rather than Greg's. Hearing Antmusic right now--cool.
I'd have thought the new identity would have rated an entire site redesign, but so far it looks like all the've done is change a few logo GIFs.

hoo lawd! Millie Jackson gets off the potty long enuf to sing "My Man, a Sweet Man".
-
OMFG! Hope Mark is CGSS-ing: it's Sly Fox, goin' all the way! Wheeeeeeeeeeee!
-
funkity-funk! funk-funkity-yow! James sez it's too damn funky in here -- well, James, coffins tend to be like that.
