I watched Gross Pointe Blank last night & this song (Deutsch version) was among the many featured. So I looked at the lyrics again & it is surprising how different the English version is from the original. The gist of it, that 99 balloons in the sky lead to WWIII, is the same, but entire verses are completely rewritten.
And now another Dave Fave - TD scaring himself.

So I looked at the lyrics again & it is surprising how different the English version is from the original. The gist of it, that 99 balloons in the sky lead to WWIII, is the same, but entire verses are completely rewritten.
And now another Dave Fave - TD scaring himself.
Great movie. Saw Cusack the other day in 1408, which is moderately entertaining -- that it works at all is due to Cusack being the good actor that he is.

I was always impressed with the "99" rewrite -- though until now, I always assumed it was a direct translation and was stunned at how smoothly they enacted a few rhymes. Still a great tune in either language.
But my BOS goes to "Who's That Girl," Annie in an uncharacteristically vulnerable mood.

So after she said she liked him in 1408 I said, well, here's a few more of his movies that are even better, 2 of which he co-wrote & co-produced.

Love Hi-Fidelity; having read the book, I was apprehensive about Americanizing it, but they did a fine job. Too bad the musical version flopped; I'd've gone to see that in NY in a heartbeat had it still been running.

I've said this on the KFOG thread many times, as good as this song & "Lovers in a Dangerous Time" are, I still think the last track on this album, "Dust & Diesel" is BC's best song ever.
Ginger, if you read this, maybe next time?
