T'was the same yesterday.
Early VHM to "After the Gold Rush," though there are other songs on this album I would have preferred this a.m.
-
Nice start with Neil, "After the Gold Rush" -- I'd forgotten that's Nils Lofgren on piano.
-
BOS to another month of "Fresh Air." Very glad to have been intro'd to this.
-
BOS2 to Sly's "Thank You." Huge.

"Lookin' at the gavel" -- one of my fave mondegreens; made perfect sense to me at the time.

I never tire of quoting that unsettling couplet at the end:
"Youth and truth are making love, dig it for a starter
Dying young is hard to take, selling out is harder"

Wait, is that NOT that line? That's how I've always heard/understood it!
-
BOS to Jimi's "Angel"
Rosalie was a Morning Show guest yesterday discussing the Monterrey Pop festival, which she attended as a 13-yr-old who'd grown up there.
She was knockied out & felt empowered by Janis & Grace, and said that much of the crowd was on LSD (as she noted it had only been made illegal for about 8 mos at the time) and were actually scared by Jimi & hundreds headed for the exits during his show.

We've had this discussion before, but it's "Devil", not "gavel" -- i thought he was standing before a judge, recounting the story of his life, so it seemed like the right word. But no.

"a nice summertime song" -- Mungo Jerry?

Could be.
It is!

If her daddy's poor, just do what you feel!

That damned issue - where a commercial gets played one song too early and covers up half of the 5th song in the set - has reared its ugly head again this week. Happened yesterday too.
-
yay cheeze medley! Gimmie dat Ding! But please don't dominate the rap, Jack.

I was just thinking -- damn, I've been gone 2 weeks and they still haven't fixed that?
-
Proxy for Geoff, "New Speedway Boogie" is maybe even a bustout. I can't recall hearing it in a set anywhere before.

they did, but it didin't stay fixed.
-
BOS D&theDs, lookin' away. Another bustout, or close to it.

Likewise for Derek & the Dominos "I Looked Away".
ETA: checked - neither appears in my Db.
-
ah, the Canned Heat version of "Let's Work Together", which we seem to hear a lot more often than the Wilbert Harrison, which charted at the same time.
-
All deep tracks must pass, so Beware of Darkness.
-
BOS2 George, "Beware of Darkness".

Since I got my Db open...you're right. Twice for CH vs. once fro WH.
And "Beware Of Darkness" is now officially the 3rd bustout in the 2nd half of Marcus' set. Sweet!

Post-set: this is the first time I'm hearing anything by the much-publicized Amy Winehouse. Another voice similar to Feist, Corinne Bailey Rae, and another woman whose name I'm blanking on. Ah, record companies, they're SO creative!
Is KFOG playing Ms. Winehouse?

I suspect I listen to KFOG outside 10@10 as much as anyone here, but I would say no. I haven't heard that name yet.

I think I heard her on New Releases Thursday a couple weeks ago, but not in the regular rotation.
