And thus a swing revival was born: TOTHK is Brian Setzer's "Rumble in Brighton."  Then one of Petty's more forgettable efforts, "Walls."

Wasn't that a Lucinda Williams song?

This Matchbox 20 (or equivalent, and that's not a compliment) song is not doing much for my state of mind either.

Had you heard that "Vulcan Death Grip" before?  Don't think I had.

I used to hear it a *lot*, I think on KFOG!  Here's what I inadvertently posted to the wrong thread a few minutes ago:

WOS: Ugly Americans, "Vulcan Death Grip." I hate the Spin Doctorish way in which their instruments are tuned, I hate the overreliance on that cheap title line, and I hate that the song is still remembered 11 years nigh on. Other than that, everything's dandy.  8)

But VHM to Ani DiFranco's "Cradle and All," and kudos to Ginger for knowing AD's weighty catalog so well as to pick out a choice track.

Some Dolt

*chuckle*

Guilty pleasure (i.e., turkey for lunch) to "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?"  At least it's not Apu's rendition.

BOS to Sublime, who might have become the biggest band in America in '97 were it not for the needle and the damage done.

Ditto.  Got that album when it first came out.  Overdue for a thorough relisten.

Likewise. Drown is a pretty good song, but Windfall is easily the best track on an album with no shortage of pretty good songs. Wish their subsequent albums had been as good.

Still, this is the only song of this set that I'd vote as BOS.
