May Day starts out on a downer ("Fast Car") but perks up immeasurably with the PSBs' transcendent cover of "Always on My Mind."

Smithereens' "House We Used to Live In" sounds oddly like R.E.M. to my ears.  Followed by late-late-period CSNY, i.e., the stuff no one could give a flip about.  "Got It Made" has got the same dinky lite production that sabotaged some (OK, much) of Jefferson Airplane's 1989 reunion album.

HM to La Deborah's "Liar Liar."  Lotta hit (and semi-hit) covers 1987-88.

That's a fab single and one Dave would do well to play occasionally.  Woulda been a BOS for me. '88 a good year for women artists, actually.
