Alice In Chains' ode to Donna Rice - "No Excuses"
-
VHM to a Seal song I'm not too familiar with, "Newborn Friend".
-
Seal's "Newborn Friend" is new(born) to me -- BOS.
-
and now Phish go out on a limb and say "Down With Disease".
This is 3 songs in a row that KFOG was not playing in 1994.

I think I saw a video of this at that time...my roommate in the first half of 1993 was a big Phish fan & had many bootlegs that he played for me.

I'm sure KFOG played Bonnie, but did they play that particular track?
Or the original of "Laid"?, 'cuz they sure played the hell out of the cover a couple years ago.
-
BOS2 James' fabulous orig version of "Laid". Dye my eyes and call me pretty! Butter my buns and call me a biscuit! Cut off my legs and call me shorty!
-
I'm a joker, I'm a smoker, I'm a midnight toker, and I'm leaving las vegas.

Nope -- I was listening to KFOG and Live 105 in about equal measure in '94; "Laid" was a big Live 105 track but KFOG ignored it at the time.

WOS: "Aaaaaaaalllll righty then!" the most annoying catchphrase of 1994.
-
yuck, two "Disease" songs in one set. This one's also new to me, by Fury in the Slaughterhouse. Even their name is yucky.
-
Ginger played something by Fury in the Slaughterhouse once before (although not this cut methinks) and i'd never heard of them before then, in fact I'd almost forgotten them since. A German band iirc, who wanted to be the Deutsch version of U2.
-
Big Head Todd & the favorite sons of Bolder CO. I guess every 10@10 deejay has their favorite Todd.
-
WOS2: Big Head Todd & the Yawnsters.
-
wrapping with that rarest of rareities, a Crowded House song I actually still like! "Distant Sun" BOS #3.

I didn't know that, but it's funny, as I listened I thought the lyrics sounded U2-wannabe-ish to the point of parody.

well I suppose STP on the interstate is a good thing...

I'll give it a vote, I always liked STP, Eddie Vedder's antipathy towards them notwithstanding.
-
what suggestions can we get for Ginger's Friday the 13th set?
How 'bout songs about Friday?
Cure, Easybeats, etc...

Um, I think she's pretty much settled on "luck/superstition" songs.

After "Prayer for the Dying" was a Top 20 hit earlier in '94, I expected "Kiss From a Rose" to be the follow-up. Instead they went with this, to my great surprise (nice enough song, I thought, but hardly a radio hit) -- what I didn't know was that "Rose" was being saved for the Batman cross-promotion the following spring/summer (and it worked).
