OMFWTFLOL and HFH: CG played Paul Anka's "You're Having My Baby". They could've swept it from their playlist, but they wouldn't do it.
-
a rare gem from the Seekers: "Morningtown Ride", followed by Aretha & George (aka ReeRee and PeePee), "I Knew You Were Waiting".
-
wow -- A-ha's *other* hit, "The Sun Always Shines on TV". Haven't heard this since the '80s, probably -- obvious in hindsight that this got them the James Bond "Living Daylights" gig.
-
WLNG Nugget o' the Day: Miriam Makeba's fabulous "Pata Pata".
Sat wuguga sat ju benga sat si, pata pata...
-
Nugget #2: Orleans' "comeback" single, "Love Takes Time", with its intro that sounds lifted from the 4 Seasons' "Who Love You". Haven't heard this in ages.

I hadn't thought of that, but you're totally right. (I have that song on a Dick Bartley comp.)

Sadly, KOMY has reconfigured their streaming, and their player no longer works for me; our computers here don't support ".pls" files. So I'm listening to Sac'to's new oldies station KCCL, not bad -- not as quirky as KOMY but also a lot more '70s stuff. Just heard the Delta Lady herself, Rita Coolidge, with her cover of "Higher & Higher", haven't heard that in a dog's age.

KCDX treat: Flash, "Small Beginnings", the Best. Yes. Imitation. Evah.

CG has been running promos for a new radio documentary series "The Legendary Labels", each show profiling the history of a different record label. It premieres this Sun at 7pm London time (that's currently 12 noon Pacific, as London isn't on daylight savings yet) with a show about Columbia. May be worth catching.

CGSS gives us Mr Withers, "When I'm Kissin' My Love", followed by a post-Ross Supes gem, "Floy Joy".
-
it's the Bridget Moynihan song, "Smarty Pants".
it could happen to you
like it happened to me
look at me now
i'm a mother-to-be!
-
hoo lawd! Alexander O'Neal, "Fake"
you're a fake
and i'm disgusted
the game is thru
and now you're busted!
-
Creative Source's fine cover of Bill Withers' "Who is He (and What is He to You)?", which Gaz & I just discussed recently. Apparently there's an epic 13-1/2 minute version; Greg on CGSS gave us 7.
-
En Vogue's "Hold On", which would be a fine addition to a Morey '90 set (and which is a hundred times better than that Color Me Badd abomination he foists upon us in 1991).
