so this weekend I tried the KPOO player on my home computer -- it worked perfectly fine. The player opened, that black rectangular box was not there, and the station came in loud & clear.
So I thought "Yay! they fixed it", but no. I just tried it here at work, and it's the same old story. How is that possible? My versions of Windows and WMP are older at home than at work. WTF?

Something in your office firewall is blocking your access to the KPOO site? Just a guess.

Dunno. The KPOO site comes up just fine, and the player opens -- but it LOOKS different at work than at home (and that change in appearance just happened a few weeks ago); this just doesn't make sense!

Not trying to rub it in, but Judge is spinning somewhat funkier (and cowbell laden) version of Edgar Winter's Free Ride.
And now I've got buffering--hope I don't miss the backsell.
ETA: Caught it--it was Tavares!

"More cowbell!"
Damn -- we discussed that version here recently, Gaz & I both have never heard it. Damn again!

wow, KOMY plays the Buf Springfield's version of "On the Way Home", haven't heard this in eons.
When the dream came
I held my breath with my eyes closed...
-
my mind's such a sweet thing
I wanna do ev-er-EEE-thing.
TJ & the Shondells, bubblegum psychedelia at its finest.
-
another KOMY highlight today: Cowsills, "The Rain The Park & Other Things". Love those crappy sound effects!
-
an early CG Valentine: Barry White's superb cover of "Just The Way You Are".
-
Cheezy early-'80s Eurodisco: "Hands Up" by Ottawan. Hey, it beats Boney M.
-
More CG cheeze: "Indiana Wants Me". A schlock masterpiece.
-
WLNG Nugget o' the Day: Dusty S's fab "Look of Love". Shockingly, the song was nominated for an Oscar in '67... and lost to...
"Talk To The Animals". Sad but true.
-
WLNG Nugget 2, and a def OMGWTF!: Frida, "Something Going On". I can't believe Dave's never played this, given his ABBA fixation.
-
'LNG has been really spectacular today. here's Pet Clark, "This Is My Song" (the long version with the extended intro) -- this may push me over the edge towards going to see her show Sat nite.

Go! It'll be great when you're ...

CG plays little-heard ELO, "Diary Of Horace Wimp"
-
wow, the Korgis, "Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime".
-
CG plays the original 1971 "It Must Be Love" by Labi Siffre, covered a decade later by Madness. New to me, and quite nice.
-
my CG Valentine treat: Peter Sarstedt, "Where Do You Go To My Lovely?". Sublime.
-
new to me, courtesy WLNG: The Shangri-Las, "Give us Your Blessing", an even worse teenage-death song than "Last Kiss", and I didn't think that was possible.
-
a Gaz fave, iirc: Free Movement, "I Found Someone of My Own".
-
page the princess! CG plays Lulu's version of "The Man Who Sold The World".

page the princess! CG plays Lulu's version of "The Man Who Sold The World".
and it's followed by the Carpenters' cover of Klaatu's "Calling Occupants of Interplaetary Craft"!! Oh that Karen, she could sing anything. Truly.

an OMGWTFLOL for the ages: Patty Duke, "Don't Just Stand There". If this wasn't written by the same guy who wrote "You Don't Own Me", then somebody shoulda got sued.

I had NO IDEA that was a cover.
PS: Spot on re "I've Sound Someone of My Own" and the You-Don't-Own-Me-ness of "Don't Just Stand There."
-
CGSS starts off with the lyrical Jesse James -- he will attack, and you don't WANT dat!
BTW, the CG Rock Show later on will include an acoustic session with the Who.
-
CGSS plays Gladys, "Taste of Bitter Polygamy, er, Love".
-
OMFG, CJ & Co., "Devil's Gun", classic (and very cheezy) early disco and the first record ever played at Studio 54.
fee-fie-fo-fum!
-
CG Rock Show: "soul of a woman was created below" -- oh yeah, Percy, THAT'LL tell her. No wonder you're Dazed & Confused.
-
OMFG, CJ & Co., "Devil's Gun", classic (and very cheezy) early disco and the first record ever played at Studio 54.
fee-fie-fo-fum!
I've never heard (of) this. "Tell me more!"

CJ & Co were Dennis Coffey's group (after the Detroit Guitar Band of "Scorpio" fame ended).

Any Little Steven show that starts with the Blues Magoos "We Ain't Got Nothin' Yet" is gonna be good, IMHO...
And he does not disappoint: first 4 tunes after the Magoos, "Vagrant Winter" (an early, raw Bob Seger and the Last Herd track, new to me); Dylan, "Tombstone Blues"; the Charms, "Broken Heart"; and the Yardbirds, "Happenings 10 Years Time Ago".
Amazing. And now we're into a salute to Geico, whose commercials Steven (who rarely watches TV) discovered during the football playoffs. Little Richard, cavemen, it's all fodder for segues in the Underground Garage, baby!

Joel Selvin's gon' come 'round at 11 wit' some Puerto Rican girls that's just dyin' ta meetchoo!
Up late listening to Mr Selvin's show, and this week's theme is remixes of rock songs. Leading off with (what else?) the 12-inch of "Miss You", which Joel sez is not actually a remix, but a completely different alternate take. News to me.
Followed by some of that Cirque du Solieil Beatles thing, which Little Steven has been flogging for months. I find it mildly interesting but it's not something I'd actually, y'know, buy.
And now the Paul Oakenfold Mix of U2's "Mysterious Ways"...
