just remembered a couple of days ago that he also played billy bob's scary racist father in monster's ball.

just remembered a couple of days ago that he also played billy bob's scary racist father in monster's ball.
He also famously turned down The French Connection -- after he found out that some audiences were actually cheering the scenes in Joe where his character kills hippies, he resolved to avoid violent roles. So he said "no" to FC and Gene Hackman got the part.
