I'd never heard this Jackson Browne before. I'm surprised at how much I like his early early stuff considering how much I dislike of his later.

Don't know if this is still the case, but in the late 70s and early 80s, he refused to play this song because he wrote it about his courtship of his late wife, Phyllis, who'd committed suicide shortly after the birth of their son.

I still maintain that prior to Running on Empty, Jackson was doing some of the very best music around. The concerts, when David Lindley was playing with him, were magical.
