Motown Monday on KHUM.  Hopefully now that the election is over, not too many public service interruptions!

TOP, Still a Young Man

I may have to drift over there, as The Drive is doing 1983.

KPOO's Judge is slammin' as usual: Three Degrees, "Year of Decision", followed by the non-Smokey Miracles' "Do It Baby".  Can't nobody groove me, can't nobody move me like Judge do!

Gladys feels a song in her heart again. "He makes me feel just like a WOO-man!"

ETA: more Gladys -- a twin-spin, her version of "Best Thing That Ever Happened", and (new to me) the Persuaders version, released the same month, which lost the cover battle with Gladys & her Pips.

Billy Paul, "Thanks for Savin' My Life", haven't heard this since it was a hit.

Leading up to the 3:00 Rick James/Teena Marie Power Hour!

VIP Tuesday, starting with the Chairmen, "Dangling on a String", one of my fave songs of that early-'70s period that I didn't catch up with until decades later.

a 4 Seasons rarity, "The Night", later covered by Soft Cell.

Followed by one of my fave forgotten O'Jays songs, "Time To Get Down".

CG is airing a Motown docu and they just played a clever montage of pieces of "My Guy" cover versions by the likes of Petula Clark, Atretha, and Sister Sledge. Nicely done.

The first time I heard that song I was *certain* it was Diana Ross.  Whoops!
