Hey, baby! The Buckinghams are playing our BOS7! It's the one that made James William Guercio fall in love with horns.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!  Bottoms up!

And I was just listening to that Seeds song yesterday, being on a brief garage-rock kick (wonderful comp that has that, "7 and 7 Is," "Psychotic Reaction," "Sometimes Good Guys Don't Wear White," etc.).

Caught the replay.  Biggest cocktease of set: playing the seldom-heard chorded-piano intro to Keith's "98.6" and not including it later.

Here's what he played.  And I can safely say that every song starts out with one vote so no one gets the dread 0.0%.

Neil Diamond - Cherry Cherry
Van Morisson - Brown Eyed Girl
The Beach Boys - Heroes & Villians
Traffic - Dear Mr. Fantasy
The Hollies - Carrie Ann
The Seeds - Pushin' Too Hard
The Grass Roots - Let's Live For Today
The Rascals - A Girl Like You
The Who - Happy Jack
The Buckinghams - Hey Baby

PS: Six "The" bands in a row!

Y'know, I'm amazed at how much I like "Pushin' Too Hard" despite its fundamental lyrical inconsistency: Sky Saxon wants to reserve his free-spirit rights (and rites) ("All I want is to just be free/Live my life the way I wanna be") yet is unwilling to grant these rights to his girl ("you better stop runnin' around").  He's kind of a chauvinist pig, isn't he?  But it's such a fuckin' cool sneer that I can't care.

And I never expected that "A Girl Like You" would suddenly rank so high among "songs that REALLY sound even better after you've had a few."

And what I love about all the Buckinghams' singles is that they all sound like they were recorded in someone's living room.  I don't know how to describe the weird sound -- "conic"?

Funnily enough, I heard it this afternoon on VIP. Right after 11pm (London time) they -- deliberately? -- played 8 or 9 white artists in a row. They should call it "White at Nite".
