here's a Gaz Tempts fave: "Power"
-
Randy Crawford, "Last Night at Danceland". New to me.
-
Jermaine, "Let's Get Serious". This would be a welcome addition to any 1980 10@10.
-
Judge's buddy Damien Maurice (the guy who did that endless interview a few weeks back) is in the 4-6pm slot today with more Old School. If you think Judge is young, check out Damien's photo on the KPOO site -- he looks like Bobby Brown circa 1984.

VIP pulls out the OMGWTFLOL of the Week, with Richard "Dimples" Fields' "If it Ain't One Thing (It's Another)", which I haven't heard in years.
-

"sometimes hipness is... what it ain't"

holy crap! a reggaefied cover of "A Message to you, Rudy" by the improbably named Dandy Livingstone. (or maybe the Specials' version was the cover?)
and followed, appropriately, by the orig reggae version of 3DN's "Black & White".
-
It's a KCDX kinda day, and BJ sails down the "River of Dreams".
-
wow, Procol Harum's "Simple Sister" -- haven't heard this since the '70s.

"Who Wears These Shoes?" Well, if they're sequinned platforms, Elton, they're definitely yours.
-
uh-oh, Percy's getting his "lemon" squeezed.
ETA: and 2 hours later, more Percy! "How Many More Times" will we hear the Mighty Zep today?

Livingstone's was the original. I did not presume this before last week, when I first learned that fact, via an article I was copy editing (http://www.villagevoice.com/film/0644,ridley,74900,20.html). Funny that should come up twice in two weeks for me.

VIP Song Title of the Day: "On You, Heartache Looks Good" (!), new to me, by a duo called Carol & Gerri.
-
VIP's doing an hour of Motown, and here's one of my faves from Innervisions, "Misstra Know-it-all".
-
J-5, "Hallelujah Day" -- never occured to me before but this Freddie Perren composition (released in the Spring of '73) is an end-of-the-Vietnam War song ("They're gonna send our brothers home" etc).
-
wow, Bobby Taylor & the Vancouvers doing a medley of "Baby I'm For Real" and "The Bells", both hits for the Originals.
-
new to me: Gene Latter (who?) doing a frat-rock-ish cover of Marvin's "Too Busy Thinkin' 'bout My Baby" (I thought it was Bill Deal & the Rondells or maybe the Swingin' Medallions at first).
-
CGSS plays the late Gerald Levert's "Casanova". Nice.
-
First Xmas song of the season: CGSS plays JB, "Hey! America! It's Xmas Time!"
-
the Bobs doing a live acapella version of "Purple Haze!"

"Goose Step Mama", Rutles
"Little Red Rooster", Stones
"Funky Chicken", Rufus Thomas
Fowl play!
