BOS ABB TOTHC!
-
So, what were he & Julio doing down by the schoolyard? What was it that the mama saw?
This song fits into several potential M3S's, including Songs with Whistling, and Songs that Mention Nationally Circulated Magazines.
Anyway, BOS #2!
-
BOS2 Mr Simon, Julio, Mama Pajama and the radical priest.
-
BOS to some vanilla Chi. Damn size queen, she is.
-
Woo Hoo! BOS3 Chi Coltrane. One of the most delightful OHWs ever.
-
VHM little-heard Eagles, "Chug All Night".
-
OMGWTF BOS4 CCR, "Someday Never Comes". Bob's kickin' butt so far.
-
VHM SuperSteviestition.
-
Okay, this is a great set and all, but if you start Commander Cody you just have to let him finish. It's in the Rules!
-
BOS5 Todd, seein' the light, a song I will never tire of.
-
What a great day to not be at work! YAY for Todd's "I Saw the Light"!!! Those three opening notes have a Pavlovian effect on me. (What do you call notes that come in before the first proper measure?)

I very nearly typed that exact same sentiment.

Why the Commander and not, say, Gilbert O'Sullivan? Is there a coolness threshold to identify? :?

...when you know she's no high-climber, then you've found your only friend...

By all means Gilbert O' (and I'm certain Mike agrees), but the Commander was heard first.

I'm quibbling here, but I will always associate this Dan LP with 1973 -- a Dec '72 release, I guess, but it didn't enter anyone's consciousness until early '73. Playing anything from it in a '72 set is a cheat IMHO.
-
Graham Nash gives the officials the Immigration Face, which I suppose was a previous iteration of the Gas Face.

Irritation, man.

Exactly like playing anything from London Calling in a 1979 set (at least in the US). It was released Dec 14th, and the Clash were still unkown here. During the 80's it's stature grew until Rolling Stone named it the #1 LP of the decade.

Abso-freakin-lutely!
I had almost forgotten how great Commander Cody was until KPIG.
-
OMG BOS6 America, "I Need You", one that doesn't get nearly the airplay that some of their other hits do.
-
"I Need You" is "Beatlesque"? Bee Gees would be closer to the mark.

George Martin might disagree

A pick-up. Seriously. (And if that's not a great straight line, I don't know what is.)
(There may be a more technical term for it, but in conversational musician-speak, that's what I know it as. Dave, do you concur?)
