I think Ginger is the greatest fun.

I vaguely remember it, but it's intersting that the covers I've heard (this and Calexico's) are pretty faithful.  I mean, no one's attempted a speeded-up or a Hi-NRG Dance version.

and speaking of covers, BOS2 Stones in Harlem.

I think I can only muster up a VHM for the Stones here.

Absolutely, and a great line that every other horror/suspense director back to Hitchcock wishes they'd thought of first.

I like this Call song so I'm gonna give it a BOS #2 vote.

ETA: I know it's a borderline Katrina from Dave, but sounds good coming from Ginger.

Trivia question for ya Mike:  In what category did this film win the only Oscar it was nominated for?

I'm gonna guess make-up -- It certainly deserved more; but "horror" rarely gets respect, even when it's clearly being metaphorical.

Another BOS to World Party, "All Come True", sounding very Stonesy even right after a Stones tune.

That's it.  I was thinking maybe Jeff Goldblum got a left field Actor nom, kinda like another Jeff did for Starman.

I guess that was T-Bone Burnett.

One more BOS for Elvis, "King of America".

That "River of Life" song? -- Ginger's played it before, I wanna say it's T-Bone Burnett, tho' the vocal sounds a LOT like Rodney Crowell.  I'll give it a BOS

And another for Elvis, who I'm bummed to have to miss next week.

"she said she was working for the ABC News
It was as much of the alphabet as she knew how to use..."

When I was at ABC we LOVED this song, because we all knew at least one employee who fit that description.

Drag that the playoffs and HSB are going to conflict. I'll probably be listening in periodically from Speedway Meadow, but with the Giants well out of it, I'm likely to be out there in the fields for the entire weekend.

Noted your comment earlier about the likelihood of losing a Game 5 at the Baggie-dome. The A's better damn hope they somehow draw the Tigers in the first round--besides the fact that their ballpark isn't an abomination, they're hitting the skids, where the Twins are getting hot at exactly the right time.

And that race between St. Louis and Houston is getting interesting--could mean a Monday trip to the Gateway city for the Giants.
