in the '80s Ruth Brown narrated a "History of R&B" series on NPR.  Great stuff (I have a couple episodes on tape) but it basically turned into "The History of Ruth's Sex Life" ... "oh that Otis -- he was SO fine!"  "And then I hooked up with Wilson Pickett..."  And so on. And on.

Indeed!

but they made up for it with this weirdass Ray Wylie Hubbard tune.. And here's another of their "wrong version" GrassRoots tracks, "Heaven Knows". Surely they could get a correct GrassRoots GH CD on Amazon for 6 bucks.

Last year at the Morning Show's local appearance in Redwood City these guys were the live act that Ali & I saw.  Apparently they used to open for the Dead back in the early 70's.
