At the office of the Contra Costa County clerk-recorder in Martinez, Erica Martin listens to Steve Weir explain why he cannot give her and her partner a marriage license. Chronicle photo by Carlos Avila Gonzalez

"let's go get stoned."

I'm beginning to think that the fight for equal adoption rights is more important than the fight for marriage rights at this point, in part because I don't see the marriage fight as a winnable one in present-day Biblevania.

but there were no gays with children in sodom and gomorrah.
i'd agree it's more important, but i don't agree with your reasoning. even if i subscribed to the "let's fight the easiest battle first" philosophy, i can't imagine the fundies would fundamentally be more willing to let the big ole mo's raise children than to be married...though, i suppose i've already been proven wrong, historically...
i'd also agree the adoption issue is more important because i presently have no desire to get married. i always think someone should care for and love the kiddies. doesn't matter who it is, so long as it's good love and care. there's a mutual of omaha wild kingdom episode airing on march 6th about an abandoned antelope who was raised by a lioness. now is that love?
