Proven By Science: Every music fan thinks King Harvest and the Looking Glass are one and the same. Including me, for several years. Those are two of my all-time faves, and for my money this is the set of the week. Will make every effort to catch the replay.
PS: Why was "Conquistador" becoming a belated hit in '72 any more surprising than "Nights in White Satin" doing the same? Just curious.
PPS: 1972 is probably my 4th-favorite year for music, following 1975, 1967, and 1968.

surprising not in its belatedness, but in its nature: a live recording melding rock with a Symphony Orch., "Live" hit singles being rare in any form. I don't recall the studio version having been a single, or having garnered any major airplay. NIWS, on the other hand was an FM staple, more popular, perhaps, in '72 than upon orig release. So re-releasing it was not that surprising.

It's not surprising, the live version got a lot of airplay with the symphony orchestra when it came out. It was a separate thing from the original.

BOS Alice! He can't even think of a word that rhymes!
Out-of-left-field BOS vote from me. For whatever reason, the song sounded so much better on a Thursday night when I have a rare Friday night off. *takes gulp of beer*
Oh, wait, I take that back, I just heard the electric-piano kickoff to "Dancing in the Moonlight," one of my 10 favorite *moments* in a song of all time. (A list I haven't made yet, but perhaps should.)
