KPOO's Judge promising an all-'80s day today. Bring the Funk!
Starting with a remix of Keith Sweat's "I Want Her".
-
a promised "quadruple-play" of the Jacksons begins with "Walk Right Now". DAY-um!

I certainly hope he had the good sense to finish with "Can You Feel It."
PS: Has Keith Sweat ever made an appearance on any of the 10@10s? I doubt it; they all seem New Jack–averse . . . but I adored "Make You Sweat."
-
Here's Jermaine's "Tell Me I'm Not Dreaming", later covered nicely by Robert Palmer.
-
ooh! Shalamar's "Dead Giveaway". Too bad Dave can't hear this show -- testament to how much soul the '80s had.
Tho' this song could easily have been covered by Devo.
OMG! "Do You Wanna Funk?" Oh my yes. And followed by Shannon's FAB "Let The Music Play"!
-
from Teena Marie's "Lovergirl" to the System, "Don't Disturb this Groove". This is too too fabulous. Judge is da man!
-
OMGWTFLOL! Rebbie Jackson, "Centipede". Wish Gaz were listening.
Followed by younger sis Janet, "Young Love".
-
"c'mon baby where's ya guts?
y'wanna make love or what?"
The Time show us some "Jungle Love". oh-wee-oh-wee-oh!
-
And now my day is made: Jermaine Stewart, "We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off".
...of course if you keep your clothes on you can't go "Dancing in the Sheets" with Shalamar.

So who's the guy doing the announcing? Judge popped in briefly a break or two back, but there's some other guy acting as dj.

Some buddy of his, sounds like. Dunno the reason. Judge is spinnning, the other guy's announcing (amateurishly).
Wow, don't think I've ever heard Prince's "Hot Thang" on the radio.

Yep, the mix of tunes def. sounded like Judge, and they were still using the "total experience in sound" tags. Judge chimed in again at the end, and his voice sounded a little croaky, so maybe he got the grip or something.

VIP-ing today, and we begin with Hall & Oates' "Say It Isn't So", one I haven't heard in ages. Gotta love a Top 10 single with the line "that bites it even more".

Funny, I was in the Cost Plus down at Westlake over the weekend and that song turned up on their Muzak--the first time I'd heard it in years as well. They actually had a pretty good mix of stuff--r&b, latin, 60s & 70s nuggets, etc.

Always a treat to hear the Gloria Jones orig of "Tainted Love"
-
and now one of my fave underplayed J-5 hits, "Mama's Pearl".
-
Wild Cherry in a mellow mood? "1-2-3 Kind of Love," a song reminiscent of the '68 Rascals. I'd've never guessed.
-
WLNG Nugget o' the Day: Nancy Sinatra, "You Only Live Twice". Sampled decades later by Robbie Williams.
-
Well, CG's Dean hasn't played "Helen Wheels" yet, but here's the Stranglers, walking on the beaches, looking at the Peaches.
-
earlier we heard "In a Broken Dream", and now Rod the Mod reappears with "The Motown Song", which completely escaped my attention when it was a hit. Pandering to his target demo, to be sure, but rather sweet nonetheless.
Oh my! "Ride a White Swan"!
-
WLNG Nugget o' the Day: 1910 Fruitgum Co., "1-2-3 Red Light", my fave song of theirs and one you rarely hear. Talking Heads used to do a live version of this in their early days.
-
Nugget#2: Barry Manilow, "Bandstand Boogie". We're goin' hoppin'...
-
CGSS fab as always, but Grandmaster Flash's great "White Lines" reminds me that Dave has never played this or "The Message". Freebase!
"The money gets divided
the women gets excited"
-
WLNG Nugget o' the Day: "Harper Valley PTA".
-
a relaxed pleasure to listen, without the sense of elevator music. e.g. a Putomayo daily track followed by ABB's Melissa, then NRPS Glendale Train!

the NRPS was a nice surprise; I owned that album on cassette back in the day.
KRSH is kinda like KPIG without the politics, tho' it doesn't sound especially "free-form" to me.
