It's pronounced "RUT-tles"? I've never seen it, and all these years assumed it was pronounced "ROOT-tles."

When have you ever heard anyone pronounce it that way?
The Rutles are from Rutland, a (fictional?) British province -- the original version of "Hold My Hand" was on an LP called Rutland Weekend Televison, a funny spoof of regional Brit TV featuring Eric Idle.

I've never heard it pronounced by anyone in any way: I've only known of them through print media.

Sorry, I just assumed Dave/Bob/Rob/Ginger have referenced them numerous times.
BTW, the LP bit led to a short piece on SNL when Idle hosted the show (I happened to be at early-evening dress rehearsal of that ep) and that in turn led to the 90-min special. You owe it to yourself to see it. You HAVE heard the songs, yes?

No, I haven't. And if the 10@10s ever mentioned them, I either wasn't paying attention or forgot.
This has happened to me a lot in my life: I'll see a word in print and never hear it, and unless I have the compunction to check a dictionary I have to take a guess as to how it's pronounced, and often I'm wrong. :(
