Title: Internet radio, sans computer
Post by: urth on March 23, 2006, 01:19:09 PM
Mark had been asking about availability of Internet radio in cars. This isn't it, but if you've been wanting to wake to the dulcet tones of Greg Edwards or Ginger, this gadget will help make that a reality.

Not cheap, and it requires a wireless broadband connection, but if you've got those in place already and between 3 and 4 Franklins burning a hole in your pocket, you're there.

From the latest R.A.I.N.:

Quote
USA Today reports that various auto makers and technology firms have teamed to
bring in-dash PCs to 2007 model cars in the U.S. The PCs now available in new
Ford F-Series trucks, which run Microsoft's XP software, can play Internet radio
and MP3 music files.

What's more, experts predict that these PCs' Internet access -- now through
wireless data services -- will soon be Wi-Max or a similar technology.

There's more detail in today's issue of "RAIN: Radio And Internet Newsletter,"
online now at http://www.kurthanson.com .

I think cnet should send you home with tech goodies to try out and review. Volunteer!
