I'll BOS CSN's "49 Bye Byes", closest we've come to anything off-the-beaten-path so far.

Are there multiple mixes of this floating about, some burying those horns (clarinets?) over the final verse (i.e., right after "Maybe tomorrow!," etc.)?  I really don't remember those horns growing up, but they're my favorite part of the song now.

You're just hearing things thru a cat's ear. I always thought that song sounded like a Buffalo Springfield leftover. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Back then, you didn't have to be a CSN fan to know the album intimately.  It was playing out of every student's window, at every party, all the time.  I don't think I've ever owned CCR's Green River, but I've heard it a jillion times.  I imagine you young folk have similar albums, although I do think music has become more splintered in styles since then.

For my time frame, the applicable songs would be the debut albums from Nirvana and Pearl Jam, and Jane's Addiction's "Jane Says."
