Just tuned in to Althea and the effin stream cut out. aaarrgh
-
It's an A-Z I think. The lovely Althea!!!!! Yay.
-
indeed, A-Z all week so no 10@10s.

Ginger told me it will go all of next week too, which suggests that theirs will have significantly more content than KFOG's did last year.

Sounds like it, although it could depend on what hours they are sticking to the A-Z format. I think KFOG's started at like 6 am and went til 10 pm, then went back to "world class rock" for the overnight and also took time out for 10@10. Sounds like the Boulder version isn't quite the institution that ours is--can you imagine the outcry if KFOG suspended 10@10 for two weeks? Besides us, I mean.
Another BCO aside: there's a banner across the top of their "listen here" page that says "don't trust anyone from Oakland" or words to that effect. I know this is probably just another doubleclick-type ad served up by a third-party somewhere, but: huh?

Don't know about any of the rest of you, but I have been enjoying this A-Z all week when I am at my desk outside of other 10@10 times.
After most of 4 days they are only into the "God" songs and before going to commercial the evening deejay just said Crash Test Dummies is on the way. I am an hour late to leave work as it is, but I might just have to stick around to hear "God Shuffled His Feet".
Ah, hear it is, that didn't take long after all.
-
Is it just me or has the 'BCO stream turned to sonic crap in the past month or so? I thought it used to sound OK, but lately it's been distorted, tinny, overmodulated, and just plain lousy. Reminds me of what internet radio sounded like in 2001.[/b]
-
Checking out the A-Z again this morning in time forthe beginning of the N's. Very nice to hear Van's "Natalia" off of Wavelength. Anyone ever heard that on the radio before?

Not since before Reagan was president.

indeed -- that's quite a little-played nugget.

after 2 hours (probably more actually) of 'One' songs we are now into the 'Only' section. And I learned somethin that I never knew, namely that Darryl Hall was singing backing vox on Elvis' "Only Flame In Town".

Er... one of us mentions it practically every time Dave plays it!
"less tender and more tinder"

So here's what I got to listen to (most recent first) between Bob & Dave on KBCO this morning:
Pride - U2
Pretzel Logic - Steely Dan
Pretty Persuasion - R.E.M.
Pretending - Eric Clapton
Pretender - Jackson Browne
Pressure Drop - Toots And The Maytals
Precious Time - Van Morrison
Precious - Depeche Mode
Prayer for the Dying - Seal
Praise You - Fat Boy Slim
Post Toastee - Tommy Bolin
Possession - Sarah McLachlan
Positively 4th Street - Bob Dylan
Positive Vibration - Bob Marley
Porcelain - Moby
Pop Song '89 - R.E.M.
Poor Poor Pitiful Me - Warren Zevon
Political Science - Randy Newman
Policy of Truth - Depeche Mode
-
sampling the "R" part of the list -- didn't really need BOTH versions of "Riding With The King".
ah, here comes Jeeezus! Jones, that is. "Right Here..." should be followed by "Right Place, Wrong Time", no?
ETA: NO -- it's "Right Next Door", Robert Cray. I thought this was called "Strong Persuader" for many years. And THEN we get "RPWT", but it's the Bonnie & BB version. Name that soundtrack!
-
"River of Love", T-Bone Burnett -- damn, he sounds a lot like Rodney Crowell.

The deejay went to commercial saying that he was "going to play someone that worked with so-and-so & such-and-such and while we may have heard of him we probably hadn't heard him", and I immediately thought A) it's gonna be T-Bone & B) this guy deosn't listen to Ginger that much, cuz I've heard T-Bone at least twice from her & only started listening since about September.
P.S. Yesterday I got my package from Ginger, composed of
1. a KBCO T-Shirt
2. a KBCO New Music Sampler (with some good stuff on it)
3. a KBCO X-mas sampler (haven't unwrapped it yet to see what it's got)
4. a handwritten card from Ginger saying thanks for supporting 10@10.
Did I mention that Ginger R O C KS ! ! !

Nice haul. I'd be curious to see how the BCO new music sampler differs from the ones KFOG's been passing off as prizes for the last six months or so. (And also if there's anything unique or cool on the Xmas sampler.)

I'm way curious about the Xmas sampler -- I remember they were giving them away to listeners who made in-person donations to some relief effort and I thought "damn, I want one!" but there was no info on the website about where to mail a check. Bet I'll want a burn of that.

Burn baby, burn. What's on them?
-
wow -- they were in the middle of "R" on Tues afternoon; I figured they might be done with A-Z by now but I checked the "just played" list and they're up to "Start Me Up". So no 10@10 today.
-
I tuned in yesterday for Scarlet Begonias which was great.
-
well, their "just played" feature ain't working, cause it doesn't reflect the fact that they're still in the letter "T".

worked for me:
Trapped - Bruce Springsteen
Train in Vain - Clash
Traffic Jam - James Taylor
Trademark - Eric Johnson
Touch of Grey - Grateful Dead
Torn - Natalie Imbruglia
Too Many People - Paul McCartney
Too Many Losers - Bobby & The Midnites
Tomorrow People - Ziggy Marley
Tomorrow Never Knows - Beatles

They appear to be nearing the end of the Ts, so I'd guess they'll wrap up over the weekend some time. If it runs proportional to KFOG's last couple of A-Zs, the last few letters go pretty quickly.
