Title: RIP Dan Hicks, 74
Post by: urth on February 06, 2016, 02:10:21 PM
The leader of Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks and original member of the Charlatans was 74. No news items have appeared that I can find so far, but his website confirms his passing.

The roll of the dead continues. I guess there are just a lot of musicians in that age group and the actuarial curve is catching up with them. Still, these weekly passings are kind of unsettling. Is this part of the aging process, seeing your heroes and admired artists all fall away?

Yep, that's pretty much what's going on.

Still, these weekly passings are kind of unsettling.

Absolutely it is, particularly when the cause of death for people of the same age group being listed as 'natural causes'.

Is this part of the aging process, seeing your heroes and admired artists all fall away?

I think the irony of all this is that, on the whole, celebrities are probably living longer than they ever have before. But we're catching up...
