Dave is soliciting Halloween suggestions on his KFOG blog page. I requested "I Love The Night" by BOC. If you got nothing better to do how about chiming in with me on this one?
-
I seconded your suggestion, as well as requesting "Pet Sematary". There are only 7 comments on that page (dunno how many folks emailed) so our odds are pretty good, I'd say.
Little Steven's Halloween show last nite was fab, lots of off-the wall stuff we won't hear today, tho' "Season of the Witch" will probably get a second spin from Dave.
-
I emailed last week. I hope he plays standards like Thriller and I wouldn't mind Rockwell and Monster Hash. I Put a Spell on You. Frankenstein.
-
According to Dave- we'll be gettin our "Monster Hash". Sweeet.
Grrrrr, mmmm HASH GOOOOD!

have you heard the GW Bush version? It's hilarious. "Michael Brown baked some 'heck-of-a-job' brownies".
-
have you heard the GW Bush version?
LOL! That's awesome.
-
"Thriller" for TotHC.

"Thriller" for TotHC.
"I'm not like all the other boys..."
Indeed, Michael -- yer WAY scarier.
-
oh that wacky Dead Man -- two parties in one hour!
-
TANC: I picked up the latest Michael Crichton novel over the weekend, and was just reading a few pages, in which somebody just got struck by lightning, about 15 seconds before that line came around the first time in "Dead Man's Party".
-
Literary JINX!
-
third time in 12 hours, but BOS Donovan. "Beatniks are out to make it rich" -- by selling "Catch the Wind" to Volvo...
-
HM Bowie.
-
BOS2 "Scary Monsters". Don't think Dave played this last year.
the stream sounds kinda crappy all of a sudden -- anybody else?
-
Had a couple of cow orkers drop in during Dead Man's Party--was there anything between that and Season of the Witch?
-

I heard that too. Wasn't sure if that's how the Bowie tune was supposed to sound or not. Seems OK now, but still crummy (as always).
-
BOS3 Danny Elfman and "Jack Skellington".
-
The stream sounds tinny-ier than usual.
HM The Simpsons
Gotta love Zevon
Guarantee void in Tennesee!
-
Predictable enough but I always love the werewolf! And extra credit for Danny Elfman for getting two songs in already!
-
I'm making my students listen.
They hate it!

before the Bowie Dave played a little something that contained the line "I dedicate my afterlife to serve the mighty Satan, followed by some backwards masking. Google reveals that this is a Pittsburgh based rap duo called Grand Buffet for their song "Cool As Hell"
http://www.grandbuffet.com/
Statues of age-old, stone-shed tears,
There's a myriad of reasons why,
None of which I need to hear.
What I'm listening for resonates at very low frequencies,
Only seismologists speak to me.
Recently, wheels that squeak have no sequel,
Refusing to roll like predictable people.
The nunnery is harnessing sexual frustration,
Converting it into fuel,
Powering the congregation
Tour bus for a time travel fantasy.
Six thousand years in the past to dismantle the
Ludicrous theories of secular scientists,
Backing their statements with useless appliances.
I apply knowledge from tabloid horoscopes.
Reminding me, all is not lost, there is hope.
Play the lottery, unplug the discord.
Flex your authority, carry a clipboard.
My life is fleeting; I shall soon befall the fate of mortals.
My only dying wish is to be greeted at the portal
Of all eternal hell by he whom I've put all my faith in.
I'll dedicate my afterlife to serve the mighty Satan.
Look at the bottom of that fir tree. A tell-tale sign,
Somebody was here. Wired it up, put it together in no time.
Who did the deed? Who tried to rid the woods of three dudes that cuss too much and do no good?
They trample vegetation with their ATV's,
So now they're fuckin' with the ghost of Johnny Appleseed.
And he's a charitable spirit, but not so Christ-like
He wouldn't take his tin-pot hat to their windpipes.
My life is fleeting; I shall soon befall the fate of mortals.
My only dying wish is to be greeted at the portal
Of all eternal hell by he whom I've put all my faith in.
I'll dedicate my afterlife to serve the mighty Satan.

HM for Casting My Spell on You, the closest to a Halloween Narada I can imagine--never heard this before Dave started playing it annually.
And HM for Beetlejuice, too.

who knew back then that Geena Davis would end up as President?
-
Something funny about this version of Monster Mash? It sounds like Bobby is in a cave 50 feet behind the backing vocalists. That isn't how it's supposed to sound, is it?

nope -- I'm thinking maybe a channel is missing...?
ooh, it's a Mash/Hash double play!
"take-a-toke, wah-ooo!"
-
I'm making my students listen.
They hate it!
Wait'll they hear Monster Hash. That'll bring 'em around!
-
I hope this "Monster Mash/Hash" twin spin counts as only one song, or I must not be getting my BOC.

and Geoff'll get a reprimand from the principal!

or me my "Pet Sematary". so much for Democracy.
VH, "Runnin With the Devil", another newcomer to the Halloween set?
-
I thought the cave-like sound was just part of the holloween effect! Pretty Scary!

Didn't know that was the Toyes of "Smoke Two Joints" fame. Not a surprise, I guess. The stream seems really hosed. 32K mono, with the main vocals way in the background. Same for Running with the Devil. It's normally stereo, ain't it?
-
I love Van Halen's "Running With the Devil", but it's really a stretch to put it in this set, just like putting Pat Benatar in that Folsom St. Fair set was last month.
How can it be Halloween without any BOC?
-
aaargh, just arrived from mtg. VH playing. How many to go?
-
stream is uber-f*cked today.
-
OK then, tune #10. I'll catch the replay.
-
Go to radioparadise.com for lots more Halloween songs today. And it's in 128KB quality. Joe Bob says check it out forever.
-
Switched to CG in time for a second helping of "Thriller".
"...and terrorize y'alls neighborhood".

fotunately, they couldn't really hear the wods at that point.

The Halloween set. Pretty much as we've heard in the past, save for the Van Halen. Bummer that Monsters Mash and Hash were counted separately-seems like almost as much of a rook job as the half-an-Al-Green song we got today:
10/31/05 - Monday! Happy Halloween!!!
Michael Jackson - Thriller
Oingo Boingo - Dead Man's Party (B-O-S!!)
Donovan - Season Of The Witch
David Bowie - Scary Monsters
Danny Elfman - This Is Halloween (The Nightmare Before Christmas)
Warren Zevon - Werewolves of London
Johnny Otis Show - Castin' My Spell
Bobby "Boris" Pickett - Monster Mash
The Toyes - Monster Hash
Van Halen - Runnin' With The Devil
BONUS TRACK: The Stranglers - Ghost Train
