an we're off. My hopes aren't high
-
Startsing with Phish. Interesting but not BOS candidate. (Do like the "shouldn't have took more than you gave" refrain in the bkgrd vox tho.)
Hmmm, Tim Finn--a Dave Fave. Could be a BOS depending on where else we go.
-
I dunno, gang- I wasn't really listening to the radio in '93 and this set is reminding me why....
-
Hey Beej, your Squiggy is kind of the antithesis of my bat-wings Peter Gabriel--with the spit curl being the opposite of the shaven crown.
-
LOL! Indeed. Ah, but I've decided on a new face today.
HM Squeeze

We're halfway through the set and I haven't taken notice of anything yet. I don't expect to cast a BOS vote. Back to my editing assignment for Index magazine . . .

Great timing--now everyone is gonna wonder what the f*** I was talking about.

Didn't anybody tell Dave I'm on vacay? He's supposed to be doing happy, celebratory sets all week! '93... yeesh.
VHM RHCP, from Coneheads, one of the most criminally underrated movies of the '90s. Seriously.
-
Sorry, man. Change is the only constant.

Coneheads was pretty funny indeed. Albeit a little less so in the final reel. But, overall? Hilarious.

I'm with ya. As Casey Kasem said on the famous "Casey Kurses" bootleg, "This is tedious, man. F**kin' TEDIOUS!"

Hasn't quite been the katrina-fest it could be tho, only the RHCP and maybe the Cranberries track.
Is this JCM? yeah, must be--he's quoting lyrics from Jack & Diane.
-
BOS to Mellencamp's essay on Jesus in Birmingham. I like him better when he takes stylistic and lyrical risks.
-
Oh, yeah. That's what this set needs. Sting.
Oy.
-
Well, it wouldn't be '93 w/out Mr Sumner and his Tales. This is actually the first thing we've heard today that was on my Best-of-'93 compilation.
What I wouldn't give to hear:
Tina Turner, "I Don't Wanna Fight"
Mavis Staples, "The Voice"
New Order, "Regret"
Elvis C, "Jacksons Monk & Rowe" (Dave has, oddly, has never played this, tho' it was a KFOG playlist staple at the time)
Juliana Hatfield, "My Sister"
Boy George, "Crying Game"
VHM Stereo MC's.
-
Is this "to the left, to the right" song Stereo MCs? For a second I imagined Smash Mouth covering this ... yikes.
-
Are we almost done? are we going to avoid The Spin Doctors and the Proclaimers?
-
oh yeah forgot "Katrina on the Moon".
If we can put a man on the moon, why can't we get a '93 set that includes some actual non-Katrina pop hits from that year?
-
"Celebrating 1993", sez Dave. He's celebratin', we's miseratin'.
-
I would have really dug hearing Boy George's cover of "Crying Game"- which is what he's playing right now. Poor George.
