No FB posting/request thread as of 10:30pm.
RGM: prediction comes true a week late. Thread is up. More "relevant" clips in store; this was the year of Do the Right Thing.

Dischead wrote, "Oh, if only instead of these two [Bob Mould and Ocean Blue] we had gotten some Traveling Wilburys and Tears For Fears...
then it would have been ten LNs. That would have been some kind of achievement, however
dubious. Instead this show was just another mediocre piece of shyte."
Maybe it will be a perfect 10 today? The last '89er was on the 25th anniversary of Loma Prieta and tried to capture its zeitgeist in some type of narrative form.

oy: FYC with a TOTHuber-LN, "Good Thing". I do not have high hopes for this set.
-
in the song 2 slot: the also well-worn XTC "King For a Day".
-
hooray for Macca: uber-BOS1 "My Brave Face".
-
uber-uber-LN3 Love & Rockets.
-
still more LN-y-ness: Nevilles, "Yellow Moon"
-
BOS for Kate Bush' "Love and Anger".
-
Kate Bush rarity "Love & Anger" gets a BOS2.
-
Digging the funky bass on Kate's tune.
-
Do the Right Thing, Radio Raheem --> the 'mats, "I'll Be uber-LN5"
-
Morrissey, "Last/Int'l Playboys". Not rare but I'll VHM it.

It's new to me, but then again, I was scrupulously avoiding Morrissey and his mopey cohort in the 80s. I'm happy I have developed an appreciation for a lot of what they were doing...

Do the Right Thing, Radio Raheem --> the 'mats, "I'll Be uber-LN5"
Has she ever gone to Public Enemy out of one of these frequently-played Do the Right Thing clips? That song was all over that movie.
-
more Radio Raheem --> Sundays, "Here's Where the Story LNs". Souvenir of a terrible year, indeed.

I love this song. BOS.

Well, another missed opportunity

I was hoping that, given her recent streak of political commentary, we might finally hear it today. Alas, we've never gotten it in an '89 set, tho' it's been requested frequently.
more Do the Right Thing -- Bob Mould, "See a Little Light". VHM. Standard '89 set: coupla rarities. mostly FFs.

Public Enemy has to be on a DNP list, at least a metaphorical one. The only rap on KFOG has been lighter, crossover hits, like Tennessee or Bust a Move. But maybe the times, they are a-changin', and the protest on the streets may pave the way for protest songs on commercial air.

Will Smith, Digital Underground, Sir Mix-a-Lot, Grandmaster Flash, De La Soul, and of course,
Blondie ;) are some of the other rap artists played on 10@10 that come to mind. All
middle-of-the-road, non-threatening, old-school material. It's so bland, we don't even get
Salt-N-Pepa.
