Heard the promo today: Willie Wonka etc. Guess '72 will have to wait until next week.
Something else saxy from Sticky Fingers that ain't "Brown Sugar", I'm guessing. "Bitch" would be my choice.
-
TOTHK: Badfinger, "Day After Day".
Sounds like we're gonna hear "Imagine" at some point, given the day.
-
BOS1 Nilsson, "Gotta Get Up", always a delight.
-
All in the Family --> Lionel wants to be a 'letrical engineer --> "Smiling Faces Sometimes". Heh.
-
BOS1 Nilsson, "Gotta Get Up", always a delight.
We seem to be orbiting the Beatles universe with the first two artists; wonder what else she has in mind?
-
Well, we're firmly in FF territory with the Badfinger, Undisputed Truth and now Ringo, "It Don't Come Easy".
-
And the FFs continue with Marvin. These are all the songs 103.7 just expunged from their playlist.
-
uber-BOS1 John "Crippled Inside"!!
-
damn , I thought we were gonna avoid "Imagine". ::)
But VHM the John & Yoko-on-Dick Cavett clip.
-

Crippled Inside takes things in a less-traveled direction, but I have a feeling it's going to be the outlier, along with the Nilsson.
Any bets on hearing Stones and/or Faces for Keys and Mac?

I thought we might get Stones and Faces but she may figure she did that last week.

And with *two* Lennon songs, it would be a pretty morose undercurrent for the set, so you may be right.
VHM Gene Wilder, Pure Imagination.
-
And back we go to the FFs: Three Dog Night, Joy To the World
Hope Hoyt Axton held onto his publishing.
-
Willy Wonka "Pure Imagination" --> 3DN "Joy to the World". Good lord, really?
-
BOS2 Ms. King, "Beautiful". An AL fave that Dave never played.
-
Harold & Maude --> "Express Yourself".
-
And we close it out with Pops & Mavis and the family: Respec' Yo'sef!
Not a rarity, but good to hear regardless.

There's a Foghead, probably GS, who just gave hell to Renee when she was doing 10@10 but praises AL to the skies even when she plays the same FF-heavy sets so despised during the Renee tenure. I find that interesting.

I'm not gonna defend the song selection (I never need to hear "Joy to the World" again, or "Imagine" for that matter) but as others have said, it's the presentation -- clips, segues -- that matters. AL cares how it sounds, even if she's playing whatever songs she's told to play.

The fact that one has a real FB interaction whereas the other didn't speaks volumes.

Both true statements. I just find it interesting that the FF-laden sets themselves, not just the presentation or personality behind them, are praised as stellar or phenomenal. Also the extreme contrast in rhetoric from this particular poster.

Best advice I ever received at work dealt with a personality like that:
"Consider the source".
