Renee wanted to say "be back tomorrow... same Bat-time, same Bat-channel" and totally screwed it up.  Same bat-cave? What?

That person is a friend of a non-KFOG friend of mine. I'll have to mention that somehow.

And someone that we do kinda know requested "Hello I Love You"!  ::)

Ogden's Nut Gone Flake was out in '68, which opens up the possibility of Tin Soldier (not a rarity, but  a great song nonetheless), but anything else would be certainly a rarity if not a bustout. Lazy Sunday is always great, but Song of a Baker or Happiness Stan would send me over the moon.

ETA: Ah, crap. Itchykoo it is.

Glad Plastic Bags from Union Carbide into Donovan's "Jennifer Jupiter".

VHM "Jennifer Juniper" -- not exactly rare, but sweet.

The original "Love Child" hitting third.

Tenement slum!  Always a BOS for the fantabulous "Love Child". Hope this is the beginning of a lengthy social-consciousness portion of the set.

Annnnd, for some reason my stream suddenly keeps buffering (It was fine during the end of Renee's show, wtf?) so maybe having Itchykoo Park be the TOTHK isn't the worst thing after all.

VHM "Jennifer Juniper" -- not exactly rare, but sweet.

However I missed this entirely -- Love Child was just starting once I got a different browser open and the stream reconnected.

Makes up for "Itchycoo Park"? Yeah, this is certainly rare.

and the social comment continues!  Bless you, AL.   BOS3 Beatles, the LP version of "Revolution". Shoo-bee-doo, all right.

That was beautiful. Anything else that contends for BOS after that will have to be mighty impressive.

MLK "somewhere I read..." --> Jimi, "Crosstown Traffic"

MLK into "Crosstown Traffic". The KFOG audience would be mighty pissed if the RHCP version would be ever played!

I remember being quite impressed when I realized that the first verse of this played off the line from Martha and the Vandellas' Dancin' In the Streets: "Summer's here and the time is right..."

What can a poor boy do? More great social commentary, both then and now.

And I believe that was Hubert H. Humphrey talking about violence breeding counterviolence in the clip that led into it.

One of those songs that seems to have been covered, even if I can't identify any specific versions.

Not sure if that's what you were referring to but this seems to be a different recording than the one I'm used to hearing.

actually, quite a few appearances between DM and AL.   Oddly, we've never heard the Dionne W orig -- in fact, Ms. Warwick isn't in the shraytabase at all, so Dave never played her i guess. And AL played "Way/San Jose" once.

more Odd Couple --> more Faces!  BOS6 "Lazy Sunday".  McLagen bookends, then.

Apparently there have been many covers, none of which I'm familiar with. Just common-sounding, I guess.

And we close out a not-bad week.  Except for that '98 set, I'll look forward to the marathon.

Indeed, enough rarities and bustouts to more than offset the frequent fliers.

Yep. I've stated before that one or two FFs are ok, even somewhat desirable (something to ground the set), but it needs to be balanced.

Got up in time to hear '78, '68 and the Sax set. I noted that they censored the word "shit" in Nick Lowe's "They Called it Rock" but not in Pink Floyd's "Money".   And later I heard the uncensored "fuck" in "Who Are You" on The Bone.
