Dave's soliciting suggestions on his blog page. So what HAVEN'T we heard in a SI set?
That probably means the usual suspects, but I'm hoping DM will choose wisely and give us a nugget or two. Thoughts?

I've requested "Hill St Blues" MANY times and he's never played it. I'll also suggest "In the Sticks", a rare Pretenders B-side instrumental.
-
Black Mountain Side - Zep
Anji - S&G, S really I guess
Hawaii 5-0
-

Hey, I'd forgotten all about that -- That was just "Somewhere They Can't Find Me" with the vocal track removed, right?
I'd suggest:
Kool & the Gang, "Summer Madness"
Incredible Bongo Band, "Apache"
Jorgen Innmann, "Apache"
Paul Mauriat, "Love Is Blue"

OMG. Total flashback. That was played so much on the radio. Probably on KFOG before the format change. I'd love to hear that.

Dave listens!

Thursday 1PM Hey - I ain't mentioned this on-air. This is a blog-only solicit. YOU will control the playlist on friday. So far the BIG winners:
"Love Is Blue" - Paul Mauriat. (We'll play it off CD even though we still have the 45 of it we bought in 7th grade)
"Riviera Paradise" - Stevie Ray. GREAT record.
Anybody remember "Canadian Sunset" by Hugo Winterhalter? POKE ME and scroll down to cut #19
OK...maybe for a traffic bed.

So who else suggested "Love is Blue" besides me & Gaz?
I also asked for (besides the Mike Post & Pretenders tracks) "Soul Limbo" and another long-lost fave, "Sylvia" by Focus, the follow-up to "Hocus Pocus" that flopped in the US but is just wonderful IMHO.
Hey wait -- I was in 7th grade in 1968. And Dave's a few years older than me, no?

I emailed Dave to request "The Super-Natural" by Peter Green from John Mayall's 2nd album, "Hard Road."
dream on...

Wasn't me--I just emailed him my suggestion, Mongonucleosis by Chicago. I think it may have made it into a 74 set once, but never SI.

he graduated from high school in 1969

So if he bought it in 7th grade, that would have been about 1964? I don't think Love is Blue was out in '64.
Dave be trippin' again....(or maybe he just wishes he were four years younger than he is).

As do we all...

He told me '68, once when I called him to discuss Beatlemania.

Well, my memory could be getting rusty!

a whole page of posts and the set doesn't even start for an hour. Is that a record?

Must stop work to listen and revel in it.

It's a deep cut from Chicago 7. Don't think it ever got much airplay, but it's a nice funky piece. Probably the last time that band got anywhere close to funky on record.
Looks like Dave's knockin' out the Club requests early--1, 2 & 3, in sequence.
Did any of us request anything else?
-
BOS Love is Blue. Yay
I just love the harpsichord tryptichs (if that's the right term) in this.
-
BOS Love is Blue. Yay
indeed. That's 1968 to me: Paul Mauriat and the Stones side-by-side on the charts.

I really, really meant to request Joe Jackson's "Acropolis Now", which I alwasy think ought to be the Kaboom! theme music.
But I didn't get a round tuitt.

If this SRV is the only SI Katrina, we're doing great today.

It's sooooo good though. I'm always happy to hear Riviera Paradise. I'd like to hear Soul Finger, preferably with Dan Ackroyd's comments about it in "Spies Like Us".

given Dave's comments about it being OK to have people shouting the title in an instrumental, he may have it up his sleeve.

oo! "Take Five"! BOS2.

Woo-Hoo! Wasn't expecting this. Absolutely timeless.
This is my all-time #25 song (5 squared, interesting, no?)

Agreed, this is a big but very welcome surprise.
Was hoping Riv Paradise was going to be the only usual suspect, but looks like we got Eric Johnson, too. Oh well. (That is who this is, yes?)
-
VHM Johnny A -- been a while since this was in heavy KFOG rotation.
-

Thanks for coverin' my tail, there, bro.
Their styles are pretty close, tho, eh? (Tryin' to salvage some dignity here...)
-
OOOooohh, and BOS3 Albatross, even if it is a usual suspect. A classic in the true sense of the word.

yes. I had to stop for a minute to place it myself. awwww... some "Albatross" for geoff.
This pre-dates the Monty Python bit, no? "Albatross... albatross!"
-

as is "Katrinical Gas". Always brings back memories of seeing him do it on the Smothers Bros Show with that Chuck Workman film montage.
-
Wonderful guitar
-
"a couple of the usual suspects" sez Dave. LOL!
-
I missed the BOS news. I take it it wasn't Brubeck?

Glad I set the alarm for 7: Dave played the three best sets o' the week in succession -- '67/'79/Insrumentals. Which then allowed me to bail on '83 & '89 and switch to KPIG... where the Sat morning jockette played SRV's "Riviera Paradise"!
