gave up on KPOO's awful stream and went to WLNG -- they've just played the Japanese and English versions of "Sukiyaki" back-to-back. No, not Taste of Honey, but an English version released in '63 (no artist name given, and the voice was not familiar), with the same lyric that TOH used -- I always thought that lyric had been written by them in '81!

Dean on CG just took a request for "Tears of a Clown" from a woman who said "I can't find that song anywhere".  Is she kidding???

She also -- TANC -- requested the original version of "Eloise" by Barry Ryan, but Dean apparently played it yesterday.

OMFG! Prefab Sprout, "When Love Breaks Down".

Dave plays "Appetite" occasionally -- has he ever played this?

Just discovered via a posting on the NY Radio Message Board that WKCR, the Columbia U radio station, has a weekend Old School Soul show called "Across 110th St" that airs noon-3 Eastern/9-noon Pacific.  "Soul & Funk from the late '60s & early '70s" sez their website, and yes they stream:

For NYers like Gaz, WKCR is at 89.9 FM. I hope I get to hear some of the show while I'm there, as well as Felix Hernandez's "Rhythm Revue".

WLNG Nugget o'the Day: The Archies' unjustly forgotten "Jingle Jangle".

"darlin' don't be weepin'
and please don't you be sleepin'
when I come a-creepin'
down the hall"

They just don't write lyrics like that no more...

WLNG Nugget o'the Day: Sinatra, "It Was a Very Good Year". Vintage.

ETA: Major "I Didn't Know That" -- I Googled to see when Sinatra's version was released ('66), and according to Wikipedia, it was orig done by the Kingston Trio, but it was the cover by the Turtles (!) that inspired Ol' Blue Eyes to give it a try. I'd always assumed it was written expressly for Frank.

Been listening to CG a bit today--the big news is, summer is here and Cucumber Man is back!

Also. Greg played BT Express' Do It Til You're Satisfied and Candy Staton's take on Suspicious Minds. And Sweeney played his usual load of Quo, Bon Jovi, Guns 'n Roses, et al, but finished with a great new Prince (!) track called Guitar.
Let's get right to it.
