--- Quote from: "ggould" ---This is just a short meditation I was asked to write for my church, and I figured I ought to just put anything I write in a blog, so I did.  I'm telling you guys because there are 4 musical references in it.  One is stated, one is obvious, one is potentially obvious, and the last you'll never get.  I guess I should think of a prize for the winner, but there won't be one, so no bother.

If you're curious, it's here:

--- End quote ---

after a quick read, all i see are the byrds on zabriskie point. that's two, right? :)
--- End quote ---

And the last two lines:

“There once was a note, pure and easy
Playing so free like a breath rippling by”

Are from one or maybe two Who songs: Gettin In Tune and Pure and Easy. But that's gotta be one of the obvious ones.

And further to POC's call on Zabriskie Point, the Dead (and Garcia solo) contributed to the soundtrack for that film.

ggould:
clearly stated: the Byrds quote
obvious: the 'Pure and Easy' quote from Pete Townsend (extra credit for all three times it was used on LP's)
Less obvious (but you guys already got it): the Zabriskie Point reference, with all the cool noodlings.

The fourth one is the one you'll never get, and that's for a number of reasons.  Easy when you start from the end, but not from the other direction.

ggould:
Title is a musical reference

http://ggould.blogspot.com/2005/02/its-all-too-complicated-now.html

[much later, I just realized I never said what the title was about. It's a reference to "Complicated Now" by Johnny and the Distractions, a song that was played a lot on KSFX during the brief rock period (didn't Dave Morey work there?) before the KFOG era. I have the vinyl, but have never heard the song on the radio since.]

ggould:
I'm not sure this will be of interest, but what the hell.  As janitor here, I guess I can use up a few digits.  What I have posted is an essay I wrote last week for one of my classes at school.  It only has one musical reference, and uses the word 'ebonics' and has a link to a Malcolm X poster.  Pretty jumbled, but if you're bored, read on:
