At least that's what Dave said on the Morning Show.
And, of course, I have a &%#$#@ staff meeting at 10am.
I'll catch up with youse guys later!

Wow!
Is this a new thing? Dave spilling the beans early 2 days in a row?
This more than makes up for yesterday's hideous '89 Katrinafest.
-
BOS1 Bernadette.
Wonderful!!!!!! Voice, lyrics, harmony. This is one I like to turn up.
-
A fab TOTHC, "Bernadette"
Q: What happened to Joan of Arc?
A: Bernadette!
-
Wow, a 60s set on a Tuesday! A reason to celebrate, indeed. One of Dave's pal's b-days?
-
I'm already declaring this a 10-way tie -- how could it not be?
Sounds like this is Dave's "hey all you ex-KFRC listeners, come over here" set.
-
"For What it's Worth", this is a great song that has become the most overused oldie this side of "Happy Together". It was in the new movie Lord of War which I saw the other night, about the billionth movie it's been used in, and directors should declare a moratorium on it for the next 5 years.
-
Is this Joan Baez clip new?
-
OMG! Joe Tex, "Show Me"!

How was it? I've been a big Nicholas Cage fan ever since Valley Girl.
I saw Corpse Bride over the weekend, very good if you like Tim Burton. If you don't, I'm not sure what you'd make of it.

Is this Joan Baez clip new?
Could be--I don't remember it. Dave's soundbite archive must be immense.
Kind of apropos, too, as Joan Baez was prominently featured in the Dylan doc last night, as least the part I saw.
-
OMG! Joe Tex, "Show Me"!
Nice horns on this!
-
Is this Joan Baez clip new?
no, it's about 38 years old
Hard to tell with '67 'cause we visit so rarely...

BOS2
-
BOS #3, Flash & The Pan.

Towards the end, there's a duet with Joan and Bob. Spurred an involuntary lurch for the remote to turn the damn thing off. I respect them both, but Joan's voice goes right through me and pairing it Bob's nasal sound did nothing to improve it...

I liked LOW, it's entertaining, tho' it makes its point a bit preachily. Someone called it Blow with guns instead of coke, and sure enough I watched part of Blow on cable the other night and that's a good description.
Also saw CB and it's great-looking. A bit short, tho' (not counting end credits its about 70 mins) and I felt it was missingsome character development -- I didn't really care whether he wound up with the live girl or the dead chick. Dude, she's like totally Goth!
-
"Good morning Mr Leitch, have you had a busy Katrina?"
But a fine song nonetheless.
-
BOS #5 S&G "Faking It". But this is going to be the shortest set ever as it stands. A lot of Dave's movie clips run longer that "The Letter".
-
My proxy BOS to the Four Tops, one of the most stunning productions and vocal deliveries of all time. Levi Stubbs is the object lesson in how singing exclusively at the very top of your range can turn any song into a thrill-ride.
-
oo! I may have to BOS the Beatles (yay), "Fixing a Hole". BOS2 actually, after Joe Tex.

This is my BOS3
-
Wow, BOS3 BeeGees, "To Love Somebody".

Wow, BOS3 BeeGees, "To Love Somebody".
Obvious BOS for me.
-
OK, I'll stick around for the bonus track today...
-
Losing count of all the BOSs--6? 7? Think it's time to invoke the 10-way tie.
BOSX Fixing a Hole.
CRAAAAP. Cow orker attacked during Fixing a Hole--what followed it?
ETA: I started writing this during the Beatles tune. I see I missed the 4 Tops & BeeGees. DAMMIT.
Must catch replay tonite.

BeeGees, which was song #10, sadly.

listening to '67 while watching Dylan '62-'66. Surreal!
-
no, it's not the Bonus, but here's "Paperback Writer", which is becoming the new "Killer Queen", airplay-wise.
-
yay Electric Prunes! BBE! (Best Bonus Ever)
-
yay Electric Prunes! BBE! (Best Bonus Ever)
Was it "I Had Too Much to Dream Last Night" or "Get Me to the World On Time"? I ask b/c I've never heard the latter, only know it through Billboard charts.

Well of course it was "Too Much to Dream". This IS KFOG we're talkin' 'bout.

Had you been listening, you still wouldn't have heard the latter--it was "Too Much to Dream..."
Still, fine set, particularly for a Tuesday, and a day in which I needed a lift.
Effin' Muni....
-
do you think we'll ever hear Earthquakes "Friday on My Mind?"
9/27/05 - Tuesday! Way back to...1967!!!
Four Tops - Bernadette
Spencer Davis Group - Gimme Some Lovin'
Buffalo Springfield - For What It's Worth (B-O-S!!!)
Joe Tex - Show Me
Easybeats - Friday On My Mind
Box Tops - The Letter
Rolling Stones - Ruby Tuesday
Simon & Garfunkel - Fakin' it
Beatles - Fixing a Hole
Bee Gees - To Love Somebody
BONUS TRACK: The Electric Prunes - I Had Too Much to Dream (Last Night)
-
I brought the Dancing Banana back because that Joe Tex song had me playin' some air tambourine.
And even my old man looks good!
-
Jeezus Kay-ryst--that was a fine set, but it may have been the shortest 10@10 on record. Barely over half an hour, if my watch is correct.
We've had two fab Tuesday sets, two weeks running. (That great 73 set was last Tues.) I think I like this pattern...
Meanwhile, I'm not certain, but I think I heard a promo for tomorrow's set as I was driving down to get some dinner tonight: 1983. Hope I misheard.
