Dave will have to work VERY hard to top Ginger.
well, at least it's not "Emotional Rescue" again. "Keef, watchoo doin'?"
-
i was first, dammit!
-
I'll reply to the thread that already has a response. Can't listen from da Voice, but I'll do what I do in every 1980 set and offer my hopes in vain for Charlie Dore's "Pilot of the Airwaves," which seems like it should be a Morey fave.

BOS Pearl Harbor, "Drivin""!!
-
BOS: Pearl Harbor and the Explosions.
(I actually bought this album way back when it came out).
-
i was first, dammit!
Must have been some of that time-travel stuff Dave played in the intro. In any case, the dialog seems to ahve been joined here, so I'll axe the other one later.

I saw them open for Talking Heads around that time. And Ms Harbor was "guest deejay" when the Clash played at Bond's in NYC.

Great flaskbacks.

Yep, I commented on that in the "other" thread.
Best segue of set: The Lennon murder report into Hand in Hand: "The sky is crying, the streets are full of tears..."

bos #3: relight my fire!!
-
BOS4 the late great Dan Hartman, "Relight My Fire", one we'd never have heard on KBCO. Dave's nearly keeping pace with Ginger so far, tho' he hasn't given us an OMGWTF yet.

LOL! BOS5 ONJ -- this would be an OMGWTF if it weren't verging on Katrinahood.
-
ha! this is the first time i've ever understood she's singing, "i'll be guiding you." i always mondegreened it as "ah, regarding you."

Any woman who wants to be with him puzzles me. Apparently he's going to be a daddy or already is a new one. Knocked someone up inbetween season 1 and 2.

If you want to watch young women debasing themselves, either Flav show or The Girls Next Door, with Hugh Hefner's trio of playmate girlfriends are the lingua franca of cable tv.
-
BOS Diana, Upside Down.
Is this 80 for sure? Maybe '81?

Not that I WANT to watch but it somehow sucked me in as I channel surfed by it.

was it the woman who crapped on the floor? It is truly the nadir of reality shows. who'd want to be in the same room with him, much less in bed? Talk about a bunch of stank ho's!
BOS6 Miz Ross, she da Boss.
A most enjoyable set, but respectfully-I-say-to-thee that Ginger still wins the battle of the 1980 sets hands down, just for the Clash and Tom Waits tunes.
-
BOS Diana, Upside Down.
Is this 80 for sure? Maybe '81?
'80 fer shurr.
-
damnit, eyewitness news! who won march madness?
-
BOS PRIVATE IDAHO!
This is another flash from the past that goes hand in hand with Looking For Clues. I think of them as a duo in my head.
-
closing nicely with "Private Idaho", or as they say on Flavor of Love, "I da 'ho!"
-
Nice 80's offering. I wasn't around for Ginger's, but Dave does himself proud.
BOS, B52s.
Cause it makes me smile.

Shows of that sort will do that. That's what the networks are counting on.

Musta been a good set--we got into the 4th page of posts, with no Mshray to boost the tally. Although having both POC and Gaz in da house didn't hurt, I'm sure.
-
We got a "Yum" after the well-delayed "beef" today. He's back on track.

Liking the new gig?

An evening BOS Looking for Clues. Home now where I can crank it up to it's rightful volume.
Oh Yeah!
Can hardly wait for Private Idaho.
No ho jokes.
-
BOS Dire Straits. So much better tonight when I can focus my listening.
-
Mr. Cougar is delightful. I'm holding tight.

well, at least it's not "Emotional Rescue" again. "Keef, watchoo doin'?"
What WAS Mick doing at the corner of West 8th Street and 6th Avenue? The only things you can do there in 2006 are:
* Eat a Gray's Papaya dog
* Go to Barnes & Noble
* Buy a cell phone
* Buy ugly (p)leather shoes
-
Pearl Harbor sounding sweet this a.m.
Reminds me to mention that I went over to the Tower in Mtn View to take advantage of their 40%-60% savings & walked out with well over 40 CD's (& that was only from Comedy & Pop/Rock M-Z). Have to go back and browse A-L, but only if I can be sure that my credit card can take another $400 hit. My bag was heavy with greatest hits compilations from lesser 80's acts like 'Til Tuesday, Cyndi Lauper, The Primitives, The Outfield, Missing Persons, Split Enz.
And Robert Palmer, too!
BOS "Looking For Clues"

bos #3: relight my fire!!
anybody know who the female singer is?
Until told otherwise, I'll fall back on HELEN TERRY as the diva default.
-
BOS #2 John Mellencougar. He just namedropped Sam Cooke, too.

The notes on the Hartman best-of I have (Keep the Fire Burnin) are not as detailed as I'd like, but it appears to be Loleatta Holloway, who gets a "special thanks to" credit on the song.
