'76 was not what I was expecting. Not bad, but...
-
Well, no b-day request, but I get a limited-edition "kiss me it's my birthday" tank-top.
So now that I know it's not happening, my request was for a 72 or 73 Soul Patrol. But since we hit both 72 and 74 in the last two weeks or so, I figured visiting 73 today was a longshot.
BOS for Get Da Funk Out Mah Face, tho.
-
get da funk out mah face, Raj!
Happy B-day Urth, wish it'd been a better (earlier) year-of-choice.

my BOS: Fleetwood Mac, when they went from good to GREAT (IMHO)

Wish That I Was There - Hanson
Winding Me Up - Alan Parsons Project
C.) Rockaway Beach - Ramones

Please Mr. Postman - (Yay) The Beatles

BOS ARA.
-
Hey, thanks for all the good wishes, gang. The official day is tomorrow of course, but nice to get your positive vibes any day.
And BOS2 to the Amazing Rhythm Aces--hoping we hear something to challenge this for overall BOS tho.

More chair-dancing for Ali! BOS3 KC. Don't fight the feelin'!

BOS KC, shake shake shake....

Ladycliff puts his crystal balls on the table. And America yawns.

San Francisco Nights - The Animals
All lifestyle-judgment songs? :?
No, and to re-iterate, they fit today's theme precisely as well as being linked between each trio. In fact one of the answers is directly under your noses at this point.
-

I got to know, I got to know, who the f--k this is...
-
So who's doing this "I Got to Know" song? A total stumper for me.
-
I got to know, I got to know, who the f--k this is...
Oh, NOW i know -- Starbuck's follow-up to "Moonlight Feels Right". No mistaking that xylophone.
-
ack. abba.
-
more Morey Latinophilia -- "Can you hear me cum, Fernando?".

Me too -- reminds me of the "Three's Company" theme. Sounds kinda like him too.
-
more Morey Latinophilia -- "Can you hear me cum, Fernando?".
there was something in your hair that night...
-
Dave sez we're playing Spot the Vinyl today, tool.
And I Got to Know was Starbuck. Followup to Moonlight Feels Right, I guess.
BOS3 Fernando.

Bwah-ha-ha! I'm sure Dave has, ahem, "crossed the Rio Grande" more than a few times.

Delightful

I'm guessing Starbuck was the vinyl -- if that's been reissued on CD I'd be amazed.
VHM JT, golden showering the people.
-

Who you callin' a tool?

I recall guessing correctly that Starbuck was vinyl once before, and I have that vinyl LP myself.

Heeheeheee--an unfortunate typo--trying to do too many things at once.
-
LOL! Annalisa's trivia involves "Let Her In" -- it's Travolta, natch, but how many Fogheads can identify it? That was a bigger flashback than anything in the set.
-
Bonus: Frampton. Jeez.
-
Bonus: Frampton. Jeez.
Sounds perfectly lovely to me. I missed the set, but if you want to take me back to '76, this is the way. There's nothing wrong with the song.

There are those of us who see the trend in an opposite direction!

Please Mr. Postman - (Yay) The Beatles
What? No Marvelettes?

doesn't matter in this case, it's a lyrical commonality.
And when I said earlier that one of the answers was now right under your noses, I mean that the exact wording of one of the answers had already appeared in somebody's post prior to my comment, but not in the context of being offered as an answer. And, as Dave would say, the whole stinkin' thing ties into On This Date 30 years ago.

Listening to Big Rick, and he's making fun of the Best of Set again. Didn't give away what it's gonna be (pre-break spiel), so I'm guessing, from his comments, it's ABBA.
ick

Rick dicked with the BOS two days in a row now. He didn't used to come off like such a doofus (sp?).
-
Geez. Early start tonight. Totally missed the TOTHC and half o the Mac.
-
The Amazing Rythym Aces had a few licks that were Knopfler like.

I doubt that Mark Knopfler was influenced by ARA, but one never knows. I was fortunate enough to see Barry "Byrd" Burton (the lead guitarist) live, and met him years later. He is one of the most creative guitarists I've ever met. If you like the guitar on "The End Is Not In Sight," check out "Dancing the Night Away" from the same album. The guitar solo at the end is spine-tingling. I think Tanya Tucker covered this song later.
-
Just occurred to me that we got 74, 76, and 78 all in the space of four days. Pretty good stretch--and who'd have guessed that the 78 would be the keeper of the bunch? Not I.

That was indeed a stellar week -- heard the whole marathon and even the '92 set struck me as above-average on second hearing, especially with regard to the political clips.
I fear, however, that next week will end up being '80s-heavy as a result.
