And Dreaming of Monday isn't helping me at all--mid-80s sometime I think. Anyone got a closer guess than that?

Hey Joe, Allmusic needs a better artist summary for Jon & Vangelis.  Considering they made 4 albums the following is rather insufficient:

Yes singer Jon Anderson and Greek synth-composer Vangelis teamed up in the '80s for a pop-music experiment.

Do me a favor: Remind me of this in a few weeks when I don't have quite so much on my plate.  Thx!

P.S.  I like Donna's "State of Independence" better.

Has Dave ever played either that Pretenders song (not even sure which track it was) or this U2 "Rejoice" before?

I know Dave has played "Gloria" & "I Fall Down" (the latter sounds a lot like this one).

The U2 may be a breakout; the Pretenders I think he's played, tho' not more than once or twice.

Yeah, big WOS for Bette Davis Eyes.  Worst lyrics ever (well, maybe not, but they're real bad).  "She knows just what it takes to make a pro blush"?  WTF?  It doesn't even rhyme with its intended "precocious".  Would much rather hear "Marty Feldman Eyes".

Okay, to make the time with Kim C pass a little faster here's a little quiz:  She got Bette Davis eyes, but what did she get from Jean Harlow & Greta Garbo (according to the lyrics)?

another fave mondegreen from this song: I always thought she was saying "Greta Garbo's inner thighs" LOL! (it's "standoff sighs", BTW, according to the Top 40 db. WTF are standoff sighs?)

I just realized that I've always heard that line as "hollow gold," which makes no sense whatsoever but there you go.

"Great Garbo standoff sighs" makes a little more sense than "Greata Garbo skin on her thighs" because of Garbo's screen reputation as well as her real-life tendancy toward seclusion.

And that is as much as I care to analyze that silly song.

This set has been one song after another that takes me back to the worst job I ever had. Pretenders, Kim Carnes, and now Jesse's Girl. All evoke the summer of 81, in spades.

Y'all may or may not recall, but everytime Dave plays something from Arc Of A Diver, I always reply that I wish he'd play "Spanish Dancer".

One of my favorite songs of the whole year!

(shit, got a phone call & missed the last half of the song!)

It's solo Brad Roberts live, on the CD Crash Test Dude, which got the worst review I've ever seen on Allmusic.com.

http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&token=ADFEAEE4781CD948AA7220C9813756C8AD53E10BDD44F6811C21461BD2B025548C0964E85DFBD0C4FDFE6AB578B0FD2EA45F43D2C0EB57F6DD672D5DF0&sql=10:o1u67ur030jk

Actually the review itself isn't that great, how can the following get past the copy editors: His version of Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time" following a poem titled "Circumcision" is neither funny or ironic. It is plain pathetic.
