It's VIP's first day of official "live" programming. Weather forecasts for Scotland and everything!  But I'll still switch to Judge on KPOO at noon.

Judge on KPOO is playing a scratchy vinyl side of live Temptations (circa mid-60s, I'd wager). After some obvious early hits ("My Girl" etc) they've segged into covers of "Yesterday" and "What Now My Love".

For some reason, Kingfish used to do a killer version of this tune, and the guitarist, Robbie Hoddinot, was fabulous in invoking that Junior Walker sax vibe.  I always thought Junior Walker's lines were very guitar-like.

Love it when The Drive' does a short set on Tuesday -- over to KPOO for JJ.   Marvelettes, "Heartbreak Dead Ahead". And the 5 Stairsteps (pre-"Oooh child") with "Don't Waste Your Time".

VIP-in'.  I was fearful that once they went "live" the music might become more mainstream and focus-group-approved -- but no worries, they're still awesome.

Songs by the Moments and the Contours I'd never heard, and now the Marvelettes, "My Baby Must Be a Magician".  We used to change it to "my baby must be a mortician, 'cause she always makes me stiff."

and now the Philly Devotions (?) whose lead singer sure sounds like the guy from the Stylistics.

Checking out CG, since I couldn't really listen much while I was their (their AM signal in Wales totally sucks).

And Dean's playing Crazy Horses right now, if any one cares!
Let's get right to it.

Hey Mike & anyone else who ever listens to the Underground Garage, check out this interview of Little Steven.  It's really very good.
