Gosh, haven't heard this in awhile. I'm digging it! Who said disco is Dead?

Comes off as disco here, but live, Shakedown could be one of their funkier workouts, particularly if Phil was really cookin' the bassline. They never played this often enough, imo.
-
wow, 2 career low-points in a row: "Shakedown Street" followed by "Dreadlock Holiday". "I don't like fake reggae -- I loathe it!"
-
Wow- and I thought KISS was pandering with "I Was Made For Lovin You".... :D
They were too! There was plenty of pandering to go around then.
-
Gene Simmons WAS.
Yeah, yeah- and Jerry Garcia would never stoop to make a buck or sell a record. I know, I know. Hail The Dead.
-

LOL - delayed action jinx! (I'd posted my reply before seeing yours.)
-
Oh, and I hate this 10cc song.
-
wow, 2 career low-points in a row: "Shakedown Street" followed by "Dreadlock Holiday". "I don't like fake reggae -- I loathe it!"
For the troika, Dave could go to the Jefferson Starship's "Crazy Feelin'."
-
Oh, thank Gawd- BOS Bruce!

Instead, Dave plays it like a rollercoaster: a swift decline followed by an even swifter surge back upwards. Tuesday I've got the Cyclone on my mind ...

Methinks between the Deadheads and the Bruce-heads, BOS voting will be heavy today. Like they say in Chicago, vote early and often!
-
cmon Dave. Give me some BeeGees, Donna Summer, how about Back In Love Again, L.T.D.? Get Off: Foxy
-
BOS Bruce, but Dave needs to step up, creativity-wise. Some Andy Gibb, perhaps?
-
yay Alicia Bridges, BOS2 -- the looong version?
-
Dave commenting on the predilections of Ms. Bridges?
-
I love the nightlife!
-

how about long version alicia? i could go for l.t.d., too.
-
HM to the disco rou-ouUUUUUUUNNND!
-
how about Rick James and or Parliament? add a little funk to the mix.
-
Oh, what the hell. BOS to Alicia. It's all about the ACK-SHAWN
-
Dave commenting on the predilections of Ms. Bridges?
Ack-SHAWN!
I always thought that Tomlin clip would be funnier if she said "get laid" rather than "meet". The Tasteful Lady indeed.
-
yay Alicia Bridges, BOS2 -- the looong version?
Thank goodness, yes. BOS.
-
Another case of disco pandering that fits in a 78 set would be Miss You. Yeah, it's a great song, but that's a revisionist POV. At the time they took a lot of grief for caving in to the disco trend. As Gaz said, plenty of pandering to go around.
-
Oh, what the hell. BOS to Alicia. It's all about the ACK-SHAWN
JINX-SHAWN!
-
BOS3 Mr Palmer. He overwhelms me.
-
BBBBOS - "You Overwhelm Me." My own version of That Sexy Voice, for this moment if not the rest of his catalogue.
-
BOS Robert Palmer!!!!
-
My own version of That Sexy Voice, for this moment if not the rest of his catalogue.
i can dig it.
-
Anyone else think "You Overwhelm Me" was heavily influenced by Marty Balin's ballads of the period? I'm hearing a lot of that today.
-
A stunning comeback for Dave after an unpromising start! BOS4: Todd, in proximitia.
-
Methinks between the Deadheads and the Bruce-heads, BOS voting will be heavy today. Like they say in Chicago, vote early and often!
Like I said...
BOS Onomatopoeia. Todd bein' silly.
-
BOS Robert Palmer!!!!
Me too. Don't think I've heard that one. Very soulful.
HM for Todd.
-
another BOS to Lights.

OMG, the Todd-is-Godders verses the Deadheads verses the Bruucers -- I don't think the other seven songs can possibly get a vote in edgewise!
-
The Robert Palmer tune was pretty cool.
Now, if you'll excuse me- I'll be slow dancing in my cube to Journey...
-
Most Honorable Mention to Miss Scottish Washerwoman 1978, Dame Bonnie Tyler.
ETA: Oh, wait, she was Welsh, wasn't she? Dammit.
-
OMG! Bonnie Tyler! BOS5!
Dave hasn't played this in ages, though it was an Annalisa bonus track a few months back.

There is nothing like a Dame.

VHM 'KRP. Cincinnati is truly a "Town Without Pity".
-
HM Herb Tarleck.
HM Montrose.
-
This coaster ain't stoppin' yet! HM to "A Tune Without Pitney."

Best Line of Set!

BOS2 to Ronnie Montrose. Just realized we've heard from two-thirds of a show I saw at the Greek in 79--Todd and Ronnie, in his Gamma guise, although he did play TWOP. The third band was Crawler.
-
When the Starship track is a bringdown... you know we really HAVE been on a row-lee-coaster. Run away! Run AWAY!
-

Consider it done. Or something like that.
-

I like this. I like to put my arms around you....
-
I think in the final analysis I do prefer the Jefferson Starship to the Jefferson Airplane, and the deciding factor is the quality of the background vocals.
-
darn, tune #10. Heavy BOS turnout as expected. Let's hear yer deep dark stories Dave. BOS Dead!
-
. Let's hear yer deep dark stories Dave.
He's keeping them in a California Closet.
-
going to kpoo, reg?
-
Let's hear yer deep dark stories Dave.
Careful what you wish for: last time Dave got reminiscent, it was over a miming Marine and "Thunder Island" ...

LOL! I'll take a tidbit here and there....
-
going to kpoo, reg?
no, I'm not in a blues mood. I'll do CG today, after I hear Annalisa's bone-us track.
-
Careful what you wish for: last time Dave got reminiscent, it was over a miming Marine and "Thunder Island" ...
I think he was a Navy mime- not necessarily a Marine...
La-la-la-la-la, our Da-vy
Makin' time
With a mime
From the Na-vy...

Hey, now- that wasn't me.... :D
-
Bonus: a rather dull-sounding Foghead chose Jagger & Tosh over Plastic Bertrand and Zevon.
"I'm walkin' barefoot..."
-
wow, 2 career low-points in a row: "Shakedown Street" followed by "Dreadlock Holiday". "I don't like fake reggae -- I loathe it!"
I guess I'm the only one around here that likes "Dreadlock Holiday." Fake reggae's okay by me.

I'm OK with it--not their best, but I like 10cc in general.

Did anyone happen to archive this set? Would love to have it just for the Palmer, which doesn't appear on any of his greatest-hits comps to my knowledge.

Alas, not I. Am just now getting my audio stuff reassembled. Hope to be back in service soon tho.
Mark? Alicat?
-
Nope. I kind of gave up archiving on Cassette.
