Listening to Casey's '80s this afternoon: February 1982.  WOS: "Pac-Man Fever," marginally played.  NTM: Eddie Schwartz (?), "All Our Tomorrows," a mopey snoozer I'll never hear again.

I just tuned in-- the Canadian station, yes?  The era of '60s comebackers produced by then-current artists: we heard Del Shannon rescued by Tom Petty; the following year we'd get Mitch Ryder covering Prince produced by JCM.  (And of course Broooce/Gary US Bonds was the previous spring)

BOS Mr Manilow's "Somewhere Down the Road" -- too bad he was past his sell-by date (chartwise) in '83, because this is one of his loveliest forgotten gems.  And it's appropriate, lyrically, since I attended my friend Joe D's memorial service yesterday.

ETA: speaking of forgotten gems, VHM Stevie's "That Girl"  -- when do you ever hear this one on the radio?

What Urban Cowboy hath wrought: snoozy early-'80s country/AC crossover ballads like Alabama's "Love in the First Degree". No wonder the New Traditionalist movement sounded so fresh at the end of that decade.

Is there another act besides Air Supply who had so many HUGE hits in a short time and are now relegated to the dust heap of musical history (without an actual scandal like Milli Vanilli)?
